'It's cute how you think you can leave me.'
'What the fuck are you talking about?' I screamed, clutching onto my phone which held the photos my friend had sent me. 'This relationship is fucking over! Stay away from me!'
'The only way this argument will end is with your death or my victory.'
'You broke his legs you fucking psychopath!'
'I told you not to see him, didn't I? I told you to wait for me to come pick you up, but no. You caught a ride with him. I told you. I told you that if you did that, I'd break his legs.' I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He was fucking crazy. All I did was catch a ride home with my friend. Chris acted like this whenever I spoke to anybody, but I never expected him to go that far. He was usually really sweet and caring. Without responding, I turned away from him and marched towards the door. 'Where are you going?'
'I'm leaving! I'm sick of this shit!'
'All because of a few broken bones? You're cute when you're overreacting...'
'Overreacting?' I screamed, turning around but freezing once I noticed he was right behind me. I tried to feel behind me for the doorknob, but immediately felt him grab my wrist and dig his nails into my skin, not enough to tear flesh but enough for it to hurt. I raised my other fist to hit him, push him away, anything, but I was too weak compared to him.
'You seem stressed...have you been sleeping properly?'
'W-What? What're you doing? Let me go, you fucking-' I was cut off when he leaned down, pressing our lips together. I struggled, completely unsure of what was even going on until my heartbeat began to soften. I couldn't explain it, but I began to relax despite the fact that I was in a horrible situation. Strangely, I submitted. It felt like I had lost all higher brain function, and I began to kiss him back until my eyelids grew heavy and lips became numb. He pulled back, letting so of me completely. I immediately fell forward, legs giving out and only begging held up once Chris caught me. 'Wh...what...' I tried to speak, but everything felt heavy.
'When I was little, I developed an immunity to most sedating drugs.' Chris began to speak, hooking his arm around my waist and pulling me into his embrace. 'That includes chloroform. I grew such an immunity that I can even lace my lips with it and feel nothing.' He poked his tongue out, running it along the piercings on his bottom lip. I couldn't understand it at the time since I was slowly beginning to lose consciousness. It was like a spider- slowly creeping up my skin and numbing my body one limb at a time. I watched as he hooked his arm under my legs, carrying me through the house like his bride until we began wandering downstairs, into the basement. 'I was a weird kid. I didn't really understand people too well. I never cared about anybody. Even today, I feel nothing.' He began to explain. 'My father always told me that I was fine and it was just part of growing up, but my mother was fed up with me and left. I still felt nothing. Before she left, she begged me to tell her that I loved her, to at least say goodbye, but I said nothing.' We paused outside of the basement door, the large lock above the handle sending shivers down my spine. 'I went to school, I met new people, I didn't care about a single one of them, but they cared about me. I learned to copy their emotions, but still, I didn't feel them. I didn't understand them.' He used his elbow to push the handle down before bumping it with his hip- allowing the door to creek open. The walls and floor were hard concrete, the ceiling only held a single hanging light with the switch dangling beside the entrance and there were two wooden chairs, one in rather corner of the room. On the left, there was a large dog cage that looked relatively new, a shiny, thick padlock leaning against the door. Inside was an array of adorable stuffed toys, as well as a small bag of candy. My eyes locked onto it, and he noticed. 'Don't worry, you won't have to stay in there very long. Just until the bed I ordered arrives. Then you can lay on a proper mattress. I even bought a few decorations for you, and a Play Station for you to play with.'
I tried my best not to start crying, but I couldn't help it. I was beginning to tear up as he carried me to the crate and gently pulled the door open, laying me inside. 'I didn't feel anything...until I met you...' I finally began to black out, black dots flashing in my vision as my head sink into the pile of plushies that lined the cage wall. Chris shut the door, plucking the lock from the top of the cage and trapping me like a dog. 'Now that I have you, I can't let you go...' With one last gentle breath, my eyes finally shut and I was left to sleep.
