A week went by and Jon couldn't think of a good enough excuse to not let Evan over, and every time he thought of something, he would just think of some other reason to cancel it out. It was the weekend again and Jon was pacing around his house when he heard a knock at the door. He slowly walked over to it, like walking slower was going to make everything disappear. Slowly opening to the door, to a smiling face. They made their way into Jon's house and walked to the middle of the living room. "You actually have a pretty nice place" Evan said while he observed the area, making Jon feel uncomfortable. "So, you want anything..." Jon said pausing and looking at Evan, "Some water would be great, I almost died on the walk here" Jon smiled a bit, taking in the scene of talking to Evan in his own home, He walked back over to Evan with a glass of water and handed it to him. "Thanks, so you've been living here for almost a year, right?"—"yeah"—"you must have to work quite a lot then" Evan sighed, "Yeah, I have to work every day"—"Everyday? I mean how do you even do that with all the school work?" Jon smiled a bit "It's not that hard".
Majority of the night they just sat there and talked until Jon had to go to work. "Is it alright if I walk with you?" Jon froze in place, feeling embarrassed. "It's like he's my boyfriend, or something... walking me to work" Jon thought to himself "No, no don't get ahead of yourself" he couldn't stop smiling though. Just the fact that Evan wanted to spend more time with him was overwhelming for him, he couldn't understand why Evan was sticking around for so long. "It's not like I'm anything special, really" He thought, "so why... why isn't he tired of me". Jon's train of thought got cut off when Evan spoke up "You alright man?"
Jon froze, not realizing that Evan couldn't hear his internal thoughts. "Uh-ah yeah, yeah, I'm fine... let's go". They walked out the door and began walking down the street. They continued to have small talk along the road, as the hot spring sun beat down on them. Once they arrived at Jon's work, they said their goodbyes and parted ways.
Jon immediately fell to the floor once he was in the employee room, his entire face was red, as a co-worker walked in, spotting him. "Are you alright?"—"uh- yeah I'm fine" Jon said standing up straight "Sorry about that" he said smiling "It's fine, alright let's get to work! These buns won't make themselves!" pure excitement filled the girl's face, like she was born to make bread. Jon smiled a bit, happy with the excitement, he put one fist in the air "Let's go!" he said laughing a bit, as she giggled a bit too.
