Jon's alarm clock went off, but he didn't get up. He was exhausted, and he didn't want to go back to school to face everything. He snoozed his alarm clock until it was two hours into school. He rolled over onto his side, staring out his window. He started to think of leaving Evan again as he quickly drifted asleep. The next time he woke up, he was already longer than an hour late for work. He decided to sit up, instantly he was reminded of everything, and the fact that he couldn't run away from it. He then got up and went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. As he was drinking he heard a knock at the door, He quickly made his way to the door, seeing Amara and letting her in.
"Have you been at home all day?"Jon didn't reply he just sat down on the couch, putting his head down. "You really shouldn't lock yourself up when you're sad..." she said while opening the curtains. The sunset shined directly into the window, lighting up the entire house. She then sat beside him on the couch. "Is there anything that I can say to help?"—"If I knew, I'd be saying it myself..." they were silent for a bit, "I know it's terrifying, seriously I get it... but the more you wait, I feel like the worse it's going to get, and you're already in your final year of high school, you don't have forever" silence broke through again, as Jon waited for more. "...and if you're afraid of him reacting badly, shouldn't you realize that he's not worth your time... I mean don't you like him because his kind..." Jon tensed up, but then laughed a little "You're completely right... I'm so dumb" he said laughing.
"So you're going to do it then?" She asked him, he paused for a moment, thinking about all the stuff he's afraid to hear Evan say. He then slowly breathed in, and out. "Yeah, I'm going to do it". She instantly smiled, and patted him on the back "I'll be here for you, no matter the outcome, alright? ...but I truly believe you can do this" she gave another reassuring smile. "Thank you Amara, I don't know if I would have gotten the strength if it wasn't for you". Jon was still utterly terrified, he didn't even want to look at Evan's face, but he couldn't continue to lie to him anymore, he had to find out how Evan felt.
