Coming Out Party

Maya's POV:

It's been a week since we took Missy down once and for all. Everything's been going great since then. Riley and I have gone on lots of dates, and the school has gotten used to the fact that we're dating. All there's left is to come out to the rest of the family.

"Ready Peaches?" Riley asks, taking ahold of my hand.

"Ready." I smile. We walk down the stairs to her living room where everyone is standing.

I look around the room. We decided to have a "Coming Out" party but we invited the people we've already told for extra support. There's food on the table and a few decorations like streamers and balloons. Glancing over the crowd of people, I see many familiar faces. Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, of course, Lucas, Farkle, Zay, Smackle, Auggie, Ava, Josh, Eric, Cory's parents, Feeny, my mom, and last but not least, Shawn.

Everyone looks at us as we stand in front of all of them, and Riley says, "We invited all of you here today for a very special announcement. Lots of you already know this, but, Maya and I both recently discovered that we're bisexual. And that we have feelings for each other." She lifts up our entwined fingers and says, "We're dating. We've always loved each other, since day one, and now we know that it's in a stronger way than we ever thought it to be. Everyone, this is my girlfriend, Maya Penelope Hart." She looks at me with a smile.

I smile back and say, "And this is my girlfriend, Riley Matthews."

I look out at everyone to see smiles etched across their faces. To my surprise, Josh lifts up his hands and claps them together. Everyone slowly joins in, until every person in the room besides Riley and I are full blown applauding.

I look over at Riley. She does a little curtsy with her skirt, and I take a slight bow. We laugh with each other for a moment, until the clapping dies down.

"Well come on, everybody! We've got cake!" Topanga says.

"CAAAAKE!" Auggie and Ava both yell as they run to the kitchen.

I laugh and step down into the living room to talk to Shawn. I walk up to him and say, "How's it going?"

"Pretty well. I've definitely been missing seeing you, though. I've been staying in Philly for the past month or two, but I'm thinking about moving back to New York for a photography internship." He says.

"That's great! You should totally do it." I say.

"Aw, come here," he says, pulling me in for a hug. I feel a warm swelling start up in my chest. I've determined that feeling is love. Shawn and I pull apart.

"Well, I think I'm gonna go say hi to a couple other people." I say.

"And I think I'm gonna get cake!" Shawn says enthusiastically. I laugh as he walks away.

I spot Riley talking to Farkle and walk over to them. "Hey Riles, wanna go say hi to Eric?" I ask.

She nods and we walk over to him. I tap his shoulder and he quickly turns around, holding his arms up in defense. "Don't even think about it. I've got a black belt in karate-oh. Mayonnaise. It's you." He puts his arms down and stands in a more relaxed position.

"Hi, uncle Eric." Riley says.

"My nitch! I haven't seen you in a long time." He says.

"Yeah, it has been a while, hasn't it?" I say.

"Well, I wouldn't know. I can't keep track of time. The other day I thought it was March, but it turns out it was only Sunday. Oh well." He says.

I hold back a laugh as I turn to go talk to some other people but I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn back around and see Eric looking at me with a stern expression.

"You be nice to my nitch, okay?" He says.

"I don't think I could ever be anything but nice when I'm with her. She's always there for me, and I'll always be there for her." I respond.

"Okay good. Now where's this cake everyone keeps talking about?" He says, wondering off.

I spot Riley talking to her grandparents so I take my chance to go talk to Josh.

"Hi, Josh." I say as I walk up to him.

"What happened to uncle boing?" He asks.

"Believe it or not, the past couple of weeks have really matured me."

"I believe it. I'm really happy for you, Maya. You've got a great life."

"Thanks, Josh. I really appreciate it."

The rest of the night goes by super fast, and soon the only people left are Cory, Topanga, Riley, Auggie, Ava, my mom, me, and Shawn.

We're all watching Mr. Googily, even though Auggie and Ava are both fast asleep on Cory and Topanga's laps on the couch. I'm sitting next to Riley in the "Bay Window" of the living room and my mom and Shawn are both sitting on the kitchen table bench facing the living room.

Riley nudges my arm with her elbow, getting my attention. She looks over at my mom and Shawn and I notice something that I didn't see before. My mom's hand is resting on top of Shawn's. I smile to myself and think that Josh was right about what he said today.

I have a great life.

I'm so glad that people are liking this story but sadly, I think the next chapter will be the last since everything is resolved. But I'm still definitely gonna keep writing since this is only my first story on this account. And as much as I ship Rilaya, I also really ship Joshaya and I think my next story is gonna be a Joshaya fanfiction. Thanks for all the support!
