chapter twenty nine

"Janina Blair Stonebrook, I am so very in love with you." He said smiling cheekily.

"Zachary Dean Herron, I am so very in love with you too." I said smiling just as wide as him.

He dropped my hands then wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer. I put my arms around his neck. We both started to lean in and just as our lips brushed against each other we were interrupted.

"ZACHY!" We heard some girl yell.

Janina's pov: We both turned around towards the girl. I couldn't make out exactly who it was though because it's already dark out. The girl ran towards us and threw her arms around Zach.

"Hey Clo." Zach said pulling away from the hug.

I mentally face palmed when I realized the girl was Zach's ex, Chloe.

"It's been awhile since I've seen you." Chloe said.

"Yeah." Zach said.

She turned towards me.

"Who are you?" She asked.

"I'm Janina." I said.

"She's my girlfriend." Zach said putting his arm around me.

She mumbled something, but I couldn't make out what she said.

"Oh nice to meet you." She said bluntly.

"You too." I said.

"We should probably get going." Zach said.

Chloe pulled Zach away from me and embraced him in a hug.

"You should come visit before you leave, my family misses you." Chloe said once Zach pulled away from their hug.

"Um I'll have to see, I'm pretty busy." He said then grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

Then we started to walk back to Zach's house. We walked in silence for awhile.

"I'm sorry." He said breaking the silence.

"For what?" I asked.

"Well for our moment getting ruined by my ex and I know it must've been weird for you to see her hugging me and stuff." He said rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand.

"It's not your fault the moment got ruined, and I have to admit it was a little weird, but I guess it's okay since I'm still friends with Luke." I said shrugging.

"I'm honestly not even friends with Chloe anymore, I don't even follow her on Instagram or anything." He said.

I put my head on his shoulder.

"Zach?" I said, but it came out more as a question.

"Yes, beautiful?" He replied.

I could feel my face start to heat up. I silently said a thanks for it being dark out so he couldn't see me blush.

"You know I love you, right?" I said.

"Yes, I know." He said chuckling.

"Well can you give me a piggyback ride?" I asked.

"Of course." He said.

I took my head off his shoulder and let go of his hand. He bent down and I got on his back. I put my legs around his waist and wrapped my arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms under my thighs to make sure I wouldn't fall. Then we made it the rest of the way to Zach's house.
