Living in Fear

A life lived in fear
Is a life filled with tears.

Stop trying to sleep forever,
In fear of waking up to face your harsh reality.

Stop trying to never fall asleep,
In fear of the troubles that disturb your slumber.

Forget about the possible situations
That your mind conjures
Without your consent,
And just go for it.

Stop imagining others' reactions
Of pure disgust and hatred.

Stop imagining the horrid outcomes
Of your actions.

Allow yourself to feel joy
And be happy.

Toss away your worries
And take a leap,
Even if you think you can't jump far,
And see where it takes you.

For a life ruled by fear
Doesn't end up anywhere,
Except a future oh so drear.

***

A little over 12 hours ago, I nearly had an anxiety attack just thinking about returning to dance classes for the season.

But I went anyways.
And I lived.

(Well I mean I'm dead in the sense of complete and utter exhaustion, but yeah other than that I survived.)

I wrote this poem beforehand to give myself the self-motivation needed to step into the dance studio.
