My doorbell rang, and with annoyance I got up to answer it. It was Melody. I hadn't seen her since I called off the wedding, and here she was, right in front of my eyes. She's barely changed. The only thing that's different is her clothes, she now looks like a mother.
"I know you took it." She said as she stormed inside.
I closed the door and turned to her. "And so what if I did? It's not like she was ever going to return for it. It's silly things from her past, she wouldn't notice if it were missing." I stated, but she rolled her eyes at me.
"It still doesn't give you the right to invade her privacy. And for what? Some twisted way of finding a loophole to make her love you again?! She's happy without you, just accept it!" She yelled.
"And why is it that you care so much about her journal? Is it because you also seek her forgiveness? That's right, I know exactly what you did on my wedding day, not cool Mel."
"I wouldn't have if Jack just opened up his eyes, he was so caught up in how much he loved her that he couldn't see her affection for you. I was doing us all a favour by telling the truth. If I hadn't, you'd be married to Lisa, Jack and Summer would have eloped, and you and Summer would still be sneaking around. You love her and you managed to convince her that sneaking around with you is okay, I wasn't going to let Jack and Lisa get hurt because of you two. I do miss Summer, but it's better off this way."
"Maybe for you Mel, maybe because now you can finally be with Jack. You love him, you've loved him since you were fifteen and you're never gonna stop having feelings for him. That's how I feel about Summer. I know I can get her back. I just need to find out the exact moment she felt the same about me and show her that."
"Fine, keep the damn journal. Just promise me that if this doesn't work, you'll give up and move on. You have a whole career in front of you, don't throw it all away because of her." She said and walked out the door. I locked it behind her and went back to the couch to continue reading.
It was finally New Year's Eve of 2003 and my father decided to throw his annual gala as he did every year on my last day with him. It's one of the happiest and saddest days of the year. He always has a live band playing and everyone's all dressed up and drinking. But I have to wait eleven more months to see him again. I don't even get to see him on my birthday, or Easter, or Thanksgiving... I just wish things could be different.
Jack's eyes opened slowly to see me laying next to him staring. Not in a creepy way, but in a relaxed way. He always made me feel calm which was refreshing. "Good morning beautiful." He said and then pulled me over him.
"Morning love." He wrapped his arms around me tightly and kissed my forehead. "How'd you sleep?"
"Wonderfully because I'm sleeping with an angel." He said, which had me smiling. "What about you?"
"I mean you hogged most of the blankets, but I made it work." I chuckled.
He rolled us over so that he was on top. "That's such a lie, you're the blanket stealer." He said and began tickling me. "Admit it."
"No." I choked out between laughing.
"Admit it." He said again.
"Okay, okay I am the blanket stealer." I admitted and he stopped tickling me. He kinda just stared into my eyes for awhile, and I his.
Then he began kissing me and stroking his hand on my inner thighs. My fingers combed through his hair as he began to lower down my body, kissing down my neck, giving me goosebumps. He went under the covers and pulled apart my legs, slowly pulling on my panties with his teeth. Then there was a knock, because there always was a knock. The person on the other side tried to open the door, but luckily I locked it the night before. Jack sat up with me on the bed.
