I had my headphones in as I walked down the street. My footsteps in time to the music of my favourite song.

And it didn't surprise me when I felt a familiar arm wrap around my waist and we were shooting up into the sky, above the building blocks, surpassing reality.

"Peter you have to stop doing that. Last week you have a fragile older couple the fright of their life." I reprimanded her a smile graced my lips.

"________." He paused, removing his Spiderman mask.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

I had never seen him so serious.

"What's wrong? Is everything alright?" I asked.

"I think.... I think we should take a break." He announced, looking down at his fidgeting feet.

"A break? From us?" I asked.

"I can't protect you from the dangers I- Spiderman faces. What happens if you get hurt. I couldn't live with myself." He explained.

"Okay."

"Okay?" He asked confused.

"I get it." I paused looking at the fire escape door on the roof building as my speedy exit. "Your ashamed of me."

"What?!" He exclaimed in shock.

"Peter. We've been dating for eight months and who have you told?? No one. You won't let me tell anyone! You avoid me at school. The only time we spend together is when you sweep me off of the streets. What are you so afraid of?" I asked.

He stayed silent.

"Aunt May has known about you being the Spiderman for over a year! You're seventeen Peter. It's okay to be in a relationship. You don't need to be ashamed." I cried.

He didn't say anything and I took that as my chance to leave.

"I was beginning to believe you loved me like I loved you. I always thought that one day you would tell Ned and Aunt May. But I guess your just dragging me along for a ride of heartbreak. Happy break up Peter." I called over my shoulder as I finally descended the fire exit stairs, leaving my heart behind...

Six days later...

Peter's POV

"If you made a big mistake with someone what would you do?" I asked Aunt May as we were once again out for dinner as she burnt yet another meal.

"I would tell them the truth. Explain myself. And if they don't accept that then they aren't worth you're time." She said, playing with her chopsticks.

"What happens if you loved someone but you never told a soul... and then broke it off because you were scared she would get hurt because of the job you do." I asked.

"Peter were you seeing a girl?!" She exclaimed.

"Yes."

"Did you larb her?"

"Yes." Only a small chuckle escaped my lips.

"How long did this go on for? Why didn't I meet her?"

"Eight months."

"Eight months!? Peter! By eight months your Uncle Ben and I were practically living together and it felt as if the whole world knew we were together." She exclaimed.
