You had been dating Jack for upwards of two months now and hadn't really gotten to spend anytime with him. Since both of you were part of the newly regrouped Overwatch, you spent a lot of time training the old team to work with their new partners. That's why when Jack suggested the idea of having a team cookout for the Fourth of July, you couldn't have been happier.

Getting people to come was a little harder to do considering Jamison and Mako were from Australia, Lena was from Great Britain and so on and so forth. Of course, Jesse jumped on board without a single hesitation considering he was one hundred percent American and wanted to celebrate the holiday like he used to as a child.

Once everyone had arrived at Jack's house, the real fun began. Hana and Lucio decided to go for a dip in the pool while Ana was chasing Jamison and Mako around the house to keep them from blowing things up. Aleksandra and Reinhardt were having a weightlifting fight over who could carry the most coal up to the grill while Jack himself was making food for Torbjorn and Jesse. A sigh escaped your lips at the chaos and you took your place next to Jack at the grill.

"Somethin' wrong?" Jack prompted softly at the sound of your sigh. He was very attentive, even if he wanted to pretend like he wasn't. It was one of many qualities you loved about him.

"That was a happy sigh," a small smile came to your lips. "It's weird to have everyone here. In a good way. It's like I haven't seen half of these people in so long that now, being with them all again feels strange." Silence befell you both as you each surveyed the scene with a different frame of mind.

You saw it as a wonderful time of friends reuniting, becoming a family again. It was just a bonus that you managed to rile up almost everyone except for Winston and Mei who were on some type of journey in Antarctica. Jack, on the other hand, saw it as a lawsuit waiting to happen. Overwatch wasn't supposed to reassemble under any circumstances, even if it was just a neighborhood barbecue. The world wanted Overwatch dead and, being a group all about saving people and pleasing them, there was no choice but to accept the fate that had befallen the team.

"We should reinstate Overwatch," your voice was low, but the hawk ears of Jack Morrison caught what you said without fail.

"That would be breaking the law," Jack replied nonchalantly. He didn't take his eyes off the grill, half in fear of burning the burgers and half in fear of looking into your gorgeous eyes and having his knees buckle right then and there in compliance with whatever you wanted.

"But wouldn't it be worth it?" You stared out over the sea of your former teammates. "The world said they didn't want us anymore. Sure, that might be true, but they might not know what's best for them. We protected them through the whole Omnic crisis and we both know that we haven't exactly stopped being the good guys since Overwatch was shut down.

"All I'm saying is maybe it's time for a change. Maybe it's time to show the world what we were really formed for since the beginning. Our purpose was to save lives and the longer we sit back and let people die, the less and less we remember that. Look, maybe it's a dumb idea. If you can find one person here who doesn't want Overwatch back, I'll drop it and I won't mention it again," you looked over at Jack to find him shaking his head, a small smile formed on his lips.

"I'd be lying if I said you didn't make a damn good speech, kid," his kissed your forehead and let a sigh escape. "I knew I fell in love with you for a reason. Sure, let's do it."

"Wait seriously?" You looked at him, awe written across your features.

"Why the hell not? We're already breaking the law just by being him," a real, genuine smile found its way onto his face. "Let's reinstate Overwatch."
