After joining Blackwatch, Gabriel Reyes seemed to take a particular interest in you. He wanted you to go on all his missions with him, whether they were big or small.

"(Y/N)," Gabriel called you into his office and you sat in the chair on the other side of his desk, smiling at him. He kept his scowl, trying to maintain his bad boy demeanor but you knew he wasn't as harsh as he pretended to be.

"Where we headin' this time Gabe?" You asked, leaning back and kicking your feet up on his desk.

"Don't smile so much, it's obnoxious," he grumbled softly, pulling out a file and handing it to you. "We're heading into Eichenwalde. Reinhardt says it's a wasteland overrun with omnics but I believe we might be able to find some valuable information if we can get there. Maybe something about how the omnics operate, who knows."

"So will it just be us?" You lazily flipped through the file. If there was anything you really needed to know Gabe would tell you.

"Yes," he nodded and a smirk crossed your features.

"Cool," you hummed happily. "I'll get good guy Gabriel then." He rolled his eyes at you and took the file back from you.

"We head out in ten, make sure you're suited up and ready," he tossed the file back on his desk and you stood, heading from his office to go get prepared.

Sure enough, ten minutes on the dot had passed and Gabriel was at your door, waiting for you to head out. Swinging open your door and dressed in your combat suit, you grinned widely at the man waiting for you.

"Let's go!" You hooked your arm around his, smiling up at him. A light blush dusted his cheeks as he shoved his hands in his pockets and cast his gaze away from you. You and Gabe had a very unique relationship. He acted all tough and closed off, but you were a bubbly, playful person. Normally two people like that would never get along, but somehow you two had wound up as not only friends, but a couple.

When you landed in Eichenwalde, the state of the town was deplorable. Omnic carcasses were everywhere along with human ones. Taking a deep breath, you steadied yourself and moved around the town with Gabe by your side.

The sound of shifting mechanical gears behind you made you spin around, searching for the source of the sound. There was a half crushed omnic trying to get crawl its way out from underneath of a large slab of concrete. It was a piece if the house you were in and it made you realize just how decrepit this place was after all it had been through.

"We need to get into the castle," Gabriel broke the silence that had befallen the two of you.

"Why?" You questioned softly, inspecting the castle that you now stood outside of. "If we go in there, what's to say it won't collapse on us?"

"Reinhardt said that his commander lost his life in there," he explained quietly. "Meaning there are still omnics in there who may or may not be alive. If they're alive, we owe it to him to kill them. If they're not, we owe it to him to find out what we can about their circuitry and maybe figure out how to reprogram them." You nodded silently, agreeing to go in with him.

There was a lot of fallen debris you had to move out of the way and it took nearly half the day to do. When you were finally done, you could feel the physical exhaustion creeping up on you, but decided to push through it regardless. Each step you took inside the castle was careful and calculated. The dilapidated building had dropped stone, concrete and wood everywhere and any wrong move could send more plummeting on top of you.

"There's one over there," Gabriel put his arm out in front of you, keeping you from moving forward. He pointed across the way to where an omnic was standing perfectly still, ready to shoot at anything that triggered its sensor. You and Gabe remained frozen in place as you thought about your next move. Do you attack it? Or do you hope it moves?

The omnic suddenly swung its head to the side, as though it heard something in the opposite direction of you and Gabriel. It raised its gun and began to blind fire into the ceiling, causing a gasp to escape your mouth. Gabe looked to you but before either of you could even react, the castle began to collapse above you.

Rubble seemed to fall for hours. Finally, the sound of the building collapsing ceased and the dust around you began to settle. Large pieces of stone had trapped your legs and pinned you to the ground. Your inside felt like they had been torn to shreds by everything that had hit you and there was no feeling below your waist.

"Gabe!" You called out weakly, eyes frantically searching for him. A groan in the debris next to you drew your attention and you saw him, pinned by his arm and chest. There was a large wooden post was clean through his chest. Panic and grief settled into your heart as you witnessed the life slowly evaporating from your loves eyes. With your free arm, you reached out to him and gently traced your fingertips along his jawline.

"W-we're gonna be okay," you whispered, tears flooding your eyes as the dreadfulness of the situation began to dawn on you. No one knew you were even here except Jack and who knows how long it would take for him to get worried that you weren't making it back. Gabriel shifted his head slightly, kissing the back of your hand.

"I love you (Y/N)," Gabriel murmured back, keeping his eyes trained on your face.

"I love you too," the tears in your eyes started their journey down your cheeks as you tried to think of anything to help you out of this situation. "Just try to keep your eyes open okay?" You pulled your hand back away from his face and took a deep, shaky breath. With all the strength you had left, you forced yourself to sit up, pain exploding through your chest as you did.

You looked down and inspected yourself to see that rock and debris had buried itself into your chest and stomach. Your legs were still trapped by a large piece of stone. You bit your lip and started trying to push the stone from your legs. With each movement you could feel the bones in your legs getting crushed and ground further into dust. Unable to stand it any longer, a cry of agony broke through your lips and you fell onto your back.

"(Y/N) stop," Gabriel pleaded. "You can't, you're going to kill yourself."

"It's better to kill myself than to lay down and die without fighting," you hissed lowly, your cheeks soaked with tears. "You taught me that. You taught me to be strong and to keep pushing no matter what. If I'm going to die I would rather die trying to save you." A cough racked through your body and blood sputtered from your mouth.

You sat up again, finally forcing the stone from your legs as you kept your cries of pain inside. Breathing heavily, you had finally freed your legs. You quickly looked back at Gabe who was slowly giving out.

"St-Stay with me Gabe," you whispered helplessly, using your arms to drag yourself closer to him. Your whole body felt like it was on fire, your insides felt like liquid and every breath you took was pure agony. Once you were right by his side, you collapsed next to him. You laid your head on his shoulder and studied his face.

"I love you Gabe," your voice was weak and your body began to give out on your, exhaustion setting in. "We're gonna be okay." Your eyes couldn't stay open any longer as your body finally quit on your, the pain too much to bare.

"We'll be okay."
