I try not to focus on sappy Hanzo stories of him overcoming his grief, but it's really hard considering he, y'know, killed his brother. Also, I know I have some requests to do but this one shot has been on the back burner for a while and I finally just wanted to post it.

Forgiveness. Empathy. Understanding. Kindness. Selflessness. These were some of the things Hanzo loved most about you.

From the moment you met him, you made it your personal mission to see to it that he came to terms with what happened. You made it your mission to make sure that he knew he was listened to, that he was understood and that he was cared about. It took a lot of work from both you and Genji to convince him that he was completely forgiven, but it was well worth it.

You laid in Hanzo's arms, sound asleep as the assassin beside you was as well. Sleeping in the same bed was something that did wonders for comforting Hanzo before he had managed to accept what happened and since then it was simply a tradition, one that you happily complied with.

Slowly, but certainly, you were awoken by a series of spasms and jerks from the man beside you. You sat up slightly, leaning on your elbow for support as you flicked on the lamp beside the bed. A lump formed in your throat as you took in the condition of the man you loved. His face was contorted in pain, sorrow etched into every feature. From his physical mannerisms, it wouldn't take a genius to piece together that he was having another night terror.

"Hanzo, my love," you started softly, placing your hands on his shoulders and giving him a few hard shakes. "Wake up Hanzo!" You began to get louder and louder until suddenly, his eyes flew open as looked around frantically, as though he would see someone or something from his nightmares in the real world.

"(Y/N)," his voice was soft, trying to disguise the weakness but you knew better than to let him. You pulled him into a tight embrace, cradling his body against your own as his shaking began to subside.

"It was just a dream," you cooed gently into his ear, your hands rubbing up and down his back slowly. "Genji is alive and safe, he loves you very much and he knows why you did what you did. He loves you Hanzo, everything is okay."

"I-it wasn't about Genji," he spoke quieter still, so much so that you almost didn't hear him. "It was about you, my Sakura blossom."

"Me?" You shook your head, slightly taken aback. "What about me?" He seemed almost embarrassed, as though he thought you might judge him for whatever he said next.

"My foul dream was about you being unforgiving towards me," his eyes were downcast and, in the dim light of the bedroom, you almost didn't see his tears. "It was about how drastically different my sorrowful life would have been had you decided I was not worth your time to save and love. How different things would be if you had not found it in yourself to see past what I have done to Genji."

"Shh," you hushed him gently, placing your hands on his cheeks and using your thumbs to wipe away his tears. "It was only a dream, my love. I am here and I have forgiven you and seen past it all. I know the real you, the Hanzo you were before the clan hurt you." You placed your hand over his heart, keeping your other hand on his cheek. "I know who's really in here."

"Do you ever regret it?" He spoke slowly, contemplating each word to make sure he phrased his sentence perfectly. "Do you ever regret deciding to find out who I really was underneath my harsh exterior?"

"Hanzo," you stifled a small giggle. "I could never regret getting to know the man that I love and cherish. Sure, there were times that I felt like I could kill you because of how you acted, but every couple has those moments. There's no relationship that doesn't have its ups and downs and so I knew that underneath your calloused and unloving side, was a broken and lonely man.

"There will never come a day that I regret saving you Hanzo," you leaned in and planted a soft kiss against his lips before a tear slipped down your own cheek. "Because the day I saved you, you saved me."
