Eliza: Alexander, theres a letter for you from south carolina.
John: But I will gladly join the fight.
Alexander: Its from John Laurens ill read it later.
Eliza: No it's not.
John: And when our children tell our story.
Alexander: Will you read it?
John: They'll tell the story of tonight.
Eliza: On Tuesday the 27, leutenient cornel John Laurens was killed in a gun fight against British troops in south carolina, these troops have not yet received word from York town that the war was over. He's barried here until his family can send for his remains. As you may know, leutenient cornel Laurens was engaged in recruiting 3000 men for the first all black military regement, the surviving members of this regement have been returned to their masters.
John: Tomorrow there'll be more of us.
Eliza: Alexander, are you alright?
Alexander: ........I have so much work to do........
