Chapter Forty-One

Kyla

"How are you feeling, Terran?" I asked, masking the concern I felt for him.

"I'm feeling okay, I guess," Terran said. I could tell that he was feeling a little confused.

Well, to tell you the truth, I was a little confused, but my confusion centered around my feelings for Terran. I really liked him, but this was really the wrong time for, I guess you could call it love.

"Do you need anything?" We were not going to survive this trial. At first, I thought that we had this trial in the bag. But now, I didn't think so.

"I don't think so," Terran said awkwardly.

"Okay, then." I walked away from them until I was out of earshot from them. Then sat down and stared ahead of me, my mind on Terran.

When I tried to get him out of my mind, he just came back, and I couldn't stop thinking about him. Okay. I just needed to confess to myself that I had a serious attraction to Terran, and I couldn't help it. I liked Terran. He had a cute smile, his hair, which was swished to one side, just added to me thinking of how much I really did like him. I loved him, but I would never say so in case he didn't think the same way about me.

"You okay?" Ashton asked. I didn't know how he snuck up so quietly.

"I'm fine." I hesitated then said, "Ashton, could I tell you something? You have to promise never to tell Terran, okay?"

I could tell Ashton was hiding a smirk. "Sure. What is it?"

"I can't believe I'm saying this. I really like Terran, but I don't want to tell him because he probably doesn't feel the same way. I don't know if he will think I'm weird for thinking about love when we are just trying to survive," I looked away from Ashton. "I can't get my thoughts off of him. Whenever I try, my thoughts always go back to him. I don't know what to do about it."

"I think you should just tell Terran about it. I'm pretty sure he likes you too, Kyla," Aston said bluntly.

I looked back at Ashton. "How can I be sure? I don't want to say that I love him, then he says he just likes me as a friend and nothing more. Things would get really awkward then, and I don't want that to happen. Would you... ugh! I don't know how to say this," I mumbled, frustrated and feeling awkward.

"You want me to see if Terran really does love you," Ashton clarified, almost as if it was a question that was finishing my weird start of a sentence.

"Just don't make it too obvious that you are trying to prod him, and for goodness sake, don't say that I wanted you to!" I glared at the boy, trying to make it clear that I would punish him if he told Terran that I was connected to this scheme in any way.

"I won't," Ashton replied, rolling his eyes. "Sheesh. Give me more credit than that." Ashton got up and went back to Terran's side. I could already tell that he was going to do something that was going to give me away. Oh, boy.
