"And this part-"

"Releases to open up to the barrel of the gun which," I grabbed the piece of weaponry from Reyes and positioned it in my hand, "I can clean as well."

Reyes smirked.

"Why are we going over this again?"

"I just want to make sure you have it down."

I scrubbed the inside of the automatic rifle. "Uh-huh."

"It's also required in training."

"Training that I've already been through," I argued.

Reyes huffed in annoyance and amusement. "Do I care?"

"You never usually do."

Reyes almost looked like he was going to pout and I set the work down, crossing my arms.

"Clean enough?"

"Could be better," Reyes glanced at it. "Terra, you've become so used to cleaning guns that you're starting to do it terribly. Watch what you're doing next time rather than complaining and ranting about it."

I looked at the pieces of the automatic weapon, noticing how terrible I'd actually done. There were streaks and pockets where I'd left oil. Some spots were blotchy from not being cleaned enough.

"Now," Reyes stood up out of the chair at our small table in the armory, "go shower- you reek of this armory."

"Is that an order?"

"A request."

"Oh right, you can't make orders," I stuck my tongue out and Reyes narrowed his eyes.

"Keep it up and I might just make it so I can. Also, keep your tongue in your mouth. It's unprofessional."

I watched as he spun around and headed off to some unknown location in the ship.

He's right, you know it.

"Yeah but I don't like to admit it," I spoke aloud to my thoughts.

"What happened after the crash?"

"What do you think? A lot of people died and were seriously injured."

I walked in freshly showered with my damp hair pulled up into a bun. Reyes sat across from the twins and Elijah, all hovering over a late breakfast. I decided to place myself next to him and as the wind from my motions blew towards Reyes, I noticed his shoulders stiffen up significantly.

"Morning," I ignored Reyes and looked to the other three across the table.

"Hi," Caitlyn was the only to mumble over her food.

Caleb didn't say much as he scarfed down his bowl of Quaker Oats with some type of breakfast sauce. I looked to Elijah. He was watching Reyes with content.

"The fact that people got hurt is obvious. I'm asking what you did after."

Reyes loosened slightly, his gaze focused on the younger black man. "I did what I've always been told to do: complete the mission. It didn't matter how many people sacrificed their lives in that moment."

"Does it now?"

There was a bit of silence.

"No, not today. Maybe decades ago, but now we're in a different war with enemies who have different motives."
