"How cold is it here again?"

"Negative 277 degrees Fahrenheit," I said, eyes trained on the land of ice around us.

"Jesus Christ."

A laugh that belonged to Caitlyn came through the comms. "What Caleb, don't like the cold?"

"Not this type of cold."

"Be thankful for these suits."

"No shit," Caleb shrugged his shoulder and came to a stop. "Where's this base supposed to be? Shouldn't it be obvious?"

"The SDF doesn't hide in plain sight all the time," I smiled, crouching to place a charge the size of my palm down.

It spread to a circle around Caleb and I. Caleb watched with amazement, his eyes darting to me.

"Fancy little gadget."

"Got it from a really awesome guy."

"Slade says thanks," Caitlyn came into the comms again.

I smiled and made my eyebrows jump at Caleb. "Ready, killer?"

"Killer?"

"Don't like the nickname?"

"I didn't think I'd get gifted with such an honor."

I shook my head and rolled my eyes. Caleb chuckled and stepped closer to me as I set the charges off. The ground shook below us as the ice broke and made us move downwards into the ice catacombs below. I aimed my weapon, Caleb copying, and made sure there weren't any SDF soldiers nearby.

"Clear," Caleb spoke lowly.

"Are we closer now Kash?"

"Indeed," came the reply. "Our scanners are sensing a lot of activity above the base."

"Picked the right time to go undercover, did you?"

I glanced at Caleb to tell him to shut it and then focused my attention back on Kash. "Are you saying we'll have the chance at surprise?"

"Or stealth. We need to keep this as quiet as possible."

"Copy," I said and then looked up to the gap in the ice to see the operations of SDF soldiers. "They're guarding the outside entrance. Watch the open, brighter areas down here."

"I'm surprised," Caleb looked around too. "Are you sure this isn't a trap?"

"It may be after we get done with the hard drive," I grumbled. "The SDF bastards."

Moving up the ice-covered stairs, Caleb silently opened the door. I watched our backs, waiting for his low whistle. Once he gave the signal and I went in, we shut the door.

"What machine is it exactly?"

Following Caleb's gaze, dread spread through me. The were at least fifty panels going across, stacked four high. All of them looked exactly the same through button colors and switches alike.
