"Give it up already," there was an annoyed groan from the bottom bunk of the cell.
"I won't," I panted, hitting at the corner of the plexiglass once more.
I don't know how long I was sitting there trying to pry apart the unbreakable material- at least by hand- but it was long enough for there to be an ache in my back and bruises on my fists. Caitlyn had done nothing but rest on the bed most of the time.
In the cell was a bunk bed, a toilet and a sink with a mirror. We had few amenities, like toilet paper or tooth and hair brushes, but we were at least given a cheap bit of everything. We were brought food twice a day and it was not gourmet.
After being moved to an unknown location on Mars- we'd been knocked out for the move- Colis hadn't shown up once in the four days of being trapped inside. I hadn't even heard his voice. It made me think...hope...that something was keeping him busy. Like perhaps the others on the Ruination.
Hope never happens that fast.
Maybe this is what happened when people went crazy? They'd get delusional and slowly start losing it after that. First the memories and then themselves entirely.
"We're going to die here, Terra," Caitlyn broke through my dark thoughts and I turned to face her. "That or he's going to kill everyone in front of us."
"How the hell can you be so negative?" I demanded, pushing into her bubble space as she stood up.
"It's reality!"
"No it's not!" I grumbled. "I order you to stop using such negative comments!"
"Is that all your position is for, Terra?" Caitlyn stepped up, glaring at me. "To get what you want others to do?"
I fell silent, not realizing that what I had said had been rude and cruel.
"You can't order shit, unless your pretty little ass is in that bridge and your lover Reyes is by your side!"
"You're wrong about everything you just said."
"Am I? Look at you, every time you're away from him, you grow nervous and weak and pathetic!"
I hadn't realized my hands were tied in a nervous jumble until she said such. I quickly broke them away and glared at her as she sat back down. I refused to let Reyes be the reason of weakness, especially because I didn't want Colis to find out.
"Don't fucking deny it," Caitlyn growled.
I was at that point of being so angry I didn't have words. I didn't know what to say without strangling the woman in front of me. Instead, I turned my head to look out the clear window of the cell and meet gazes with Colis. He slowly clapped his hands four times, a smirk evident on his features.
Shit, I hope he didn't catch the whole Reyes thing!
Caitlyn stood back up behind me, her defenses raising once again.
"A little longer and maybe one of you will make my job easier by killing off yourselves."
I clenched my fists, unable to say anything without causing something horrible to happen. Caitlyn pressed closer to me both out of nervousness and encouragement. Despite our bickering, we were still together. We always would be.
