Chapter 11

Jace

I listened closely as the music that played through my headphones built up in the seconds between the verse and chorus of my song. All the emotions that there written in the song bubbled up my chest to my throat, just in time for the chorus.

"Panic stricken in this god forsaken night, you were supposed to be my light, an everything amoungst it all, I needed you," I sang, my eyes were closed as I held the longer notes, "Panic stricken in the dark, you should know this by now, I should now this by now, I can never need you,"

By the time that the song had finished, I was panting. Singing really took a toll on you when, especially when you were singing an upbeat, fast paced, and soulful song. Like this one.

I slipped off my headphones and looked up from the microphone that was placed right in front of my face to look at where my producer, Alec, Matt, and Nate were sitting.

"How was it?" I asked, stepping out of the booth, to hear them properly.

"Yo, man it was epic!" Matt exclaimed, giving me a high five.

I looked over at Nate to see him grinning at me, "It's one of those heartfelt songs with a really good beat,"

"And that's good...?"

Nate laughed, "You know it is,"

It was currently eight in the morning on a Thursday and I was doing extremely last minute touch ups on my single that was supposed to be released tomorrow. That may have been the only reason that my mother would ever let me skip school for a few hours even if I did have a free period. Sometimes, there were drawbacks of having a mother like mine.

"I think that we were right to have ou do the chorus again," Alec commented, as he fiddled with some stuff on his computer, "It sounds much better,"

I nodded taking a gulp of water as he continued on, "And the violin track really works well with the piano,"

"So, we're all good?" I asked, peering over his shoulder to see the layout of the tracks that made the song we were working on for a while now.

"Yep, I'll just save this and send it to Andy and we'll be done for today," Alec told me, "Unless you want to work on some other songs,"

I shook my head as I grabbed my bag, "I don't have time today, but I'll be in for a session tomorrow,"

Alec nodded, "I'll be here then,"

I looked over at Matt and Nate, "You coming?"
