Chapter 12

Jace

The familiar melody of guitars and the pounding of the drums met my ears as I sat in a talk show's backstage dressing room. Pride and shock ran through me as I heard the sound of me singing through the speakers of the radio.

A few days had passed since the release of my single and it's music video. So far every radio station that I had turned on was playing the song, there were tens of millions of views on the music video, and over the span of a few days I had gained thousands - thousands - of more followers on my social media platforms. It was a huge shock for me to have my work so well known so quickly.

"Would you like some water?" a PA asked me with an awed look in her eyes.

I shook my head, "I'm fine, thank you," I told her with a smile.

The PA nodded a bit dazed, "We'll be ready for you in a few minutes," she told me before walking out.

I checked my appearance in the mirror for what felt like the millionth time. I didn't want to do anything wrong for this interview, it might cost my whole career. I was waiting to be interviewed for one of the biggest talk shows in the world, which happened to be in my city. Millions of people tuned in on this show and if I made one slip up it could cost me.

I was wearing a blue button down and brown chinos, trying not look over dressed or under dressed. I was a bundle of nerves, my hands we shaking and I had a terrible fear that I would say something stupid on camera.

"Don't worry, kid," Andy told me as he stared up at me from his phone, "You're going to do awesome,"

Andy was my agent, the one that had made all of my success possible and he was also a close friend. Over the years, especially on the road, our business relationship had become more relaxed. He was someone who knew everything I felt about when it came to my career.

"Seriously, you've been on hundreds of interviews," he continued, "You're going to kick ass, like always. Oh, you also have a dance lesson with your choreographer at five,"

Before I could say anythings else someone came into the dressing room.

"We're ready for you now, Mr. Husher," a different PA informed me.

I took a deep breath and smoothed down the front of my shirt, "Okay," I said following the PA to the entrance that I was supposed to take to go on set.

"When you hear your name, it will be your cue," they told me, before leaving.

When I heard my name being announced by the famous interviewer/comedian Anna, my mind went into pilot mode and I walked out automatically.

Overhead I heard a well known pop song playing and I kind of danced my way out, not trying to think much at all, aside from making a good impression. As I walked across the stage to where the couches were placed, I saw the huge crows in front of me, all of whom were on their feet screaming and cheering.

I grinned at them before turning to the interviewer, Anna, and giving her a hug. The cheering carried on for a bit after I pulled away from Anna, but it died down as I sat on the plush red arm chair.

"Hi!" Anna greeted me with a bright smile, "It's great to have you here,"

"Hi!" I replied, "It's great to be here,"

"So Jace, you have blown up all over the world, your single is number one on iTunes, your music video has just been announced as the most viewed music video this year," she stated with an impressed tone, "And all of this happened in the span of the few days since the single was released. How does it all feel?" she asked.
