Chapter 14

Elise

I was feeling extra happy today. The sun was shining high in the sky, there was a light layer of snow on the ground making it just cold enough to start wearing scarves and coats, and there was a freshness in the air that seemed to be lacking for a while. But the biggest reason I was happy was because I finally found an appropriate excuse to wear my pair of overall shorts. I had come to the conclusion that it was a good reason to be happy.

"Will you help me with these or not?" Dani asked as she carried two buckets of paint past me and motioned her head towards the other equipment in the back of the car.

"Yep!" I exclaimed, grabbing the rest of the stuff before closing the trunk.

It wasn't warm enough to wear my overalls by themselves, so I had to wear a thick coat and knee high boots to keep warm. As I walked to the entrance of Jace's house, my footprints left imprints of hearts on the ground, making my smile widen.

"Elise! Dani!" Clair called out from the front door. She was wearing a white dress and her hair was pulled up into a perfect updo as she clasped her hands in front of her.

"Do you need any help?" she asked, her voice carrying out through the frigid air.

"Nope! We're good!" I answered as my breath turned into small puffs in the cold.

Both of us trudged up the front stairs, making our way into the toasty home with smiles on our faces. Dani being the more sensible one out of the two of us, opted to wear a pair of jeans and a jumper. I liked to think she wasn't as devoted into this project as I was.

"You can put that right there dear, I'll get Jack to bring it up to Jace's room," Clair told Dani and I when we walked into the foyer.

Dani shook her head, "I need to go up and set up the cameras anyways since Elise is useless at doing that,"

I nodded sheepishly, "Sad but true,"

Clair chuckled, "All right then, the two of you can make your way up. I'm sure that Jace is already there,"

With that they both of us started walking up to Jace's room. The room looked exactly the same way it had since the last time I was there, which was only a few days ago, with the music posters everywhere and the one lone blank wall. But it wouldn't be like that by the end of the day.

"Hi!" I beamed as I saw Jace emerge into the room from his walk-in closet.

He looked up and returned the bright smile that was plastered on my face, "Hey,"

"We have the stuff!" I told him, placing the equipment that we were going to need for the DIY blog we were going to do.

"Great, I layed out some sheets and moved some of the furniture around to make room for the camera," he explained to me, showing the slightly moved furniture.

"Good," Dani stated and automatically began to set up the cameras for taking pictures.

I moved to stand by Jace and together we watched Dani set up in a comfortable silence.

"Should we go help her?" he whispered to me.

I shook my head, "She'll bite your head off if you go anywhere near the cameras,"

"I heard that!" Dani yelled as she adjusted some of the lenses, "And these things cost a hell of a lot of money. I can't afford for any of you to screw them up,"
