Chapter 25

Elise

I never did get used to public speaking. And I still never understood why people wanted me to do it so badly.

"I knew that you would do amazing!" Jeremy gushed as I came off stage, trying to calm my racing heart.

"Oh, thank you Jeremy," I said, in between my deep breaths, "It's great to be doing another show like this,"

He nodded, handing me a bottle of water, "After the first one being such a success, I thought that we should do another one during the suicide prevention week,"

I agreed with him, "A lot of people struggle around this time of the year,"

As I took a big gulp of my water, I noticed that Jeremy was looking at me. Well, less looking and more like examining me.

"You look different," he commented, "More at peace, and happier somehow,"

I smiled at him, "I spent some time healing myself,"

He smiled warmly back at me, "I'm really proud of you Elise, that's something a lot of people struggle with,"

I nodded, looking down at the ground, "Yeah, I know,"

In more ways then one I knew just how hard it was for people to heal their scars, to forgive themselves, to forgive others. And I knew the different outcomes that came with whether a person could or could not find a way to heal themselves for the long run.

"Elise!" I heard Dani call out for me, "Jace is asking for you!"

I looked back up at Jeremy, "I guess that's my cue to go, it was wonderful to see you again,"

"It was wonderful to see you too," he replied as I made my way to where Dani was standing.

She was impatiently tapping her foot as I came up to her, "Do you know how annoying Jace has been for the past half hour? Where's Elise? Where is she? Meh," she complained, pulling me down a hallway.

I laughed, "Sorry,"

"Tell that to my headache," she grumbled, "It's bad enough that I have to be his dresser, now he's acting like I'm his servant or something,"

I couldn't really imagine Dani being a servant, she was more likely to punch the other person in the face before actually doing what they asked of her.

When we came to a door that had the words "Jace Husher Dressing Room" on it, Dani pushed the door open and shoved my inside.

"Tell him that if he doesn't come out in ten minutes I will personally find a goddamned assassin and kill him in the most excruciating way possible," and with those words she slammed the door shut.

I looked around the small room that was bare except for the couch, mirror, clothes rack, and a guitar. I didn't see Jace anywhere, so I just sat down on the couch waiting for him. He would have to come sooner or later and I wasn't needed for another twenty minutes.

Suddenly, a pair of hands covered my eyes, and a voice spoke beside me ear, "Guess who?"

Pretending to think for a moment, I answered, "Ryan Gosling?"

"Nope, guess again," he chuckled.

"Um, Superman?" I laughed while I answered, giving away my tiny charade.

"Nope," he said, pulling his hands off of my face and planted a kiss on my cheek, "Someone so much better,"

I looked up at him and joked, "Damn, I was really hoping it would be Ryan Gosling,"
