Chapter 24

Jace

Sometimes, the world would catch up to me and leave me amazed of the things that I had been granted in this life. Like recording an album, or releasing an incredibly successful song, or winning an award. Those things were amazing moments in my life that I couldn't fully comprehend with all the joy and happiness that filled me for achieving them.

Now, I was having another one of those moments.

Walking down the busy streets of our city, hand in hand, enjoying our time with each other. I couldn't believe that I had this amazing and wonderful girl in my life, none the less a girl that I couldn't stand months ago. Now, I was hung on her every word and addicted to her touch. I was going crazy. And I loved every moment of it.

"I reckon that a lot of people will hate me now," Elise stated, as she looked around at the people that surrounded us on the streets.

"What? Why?" I asked concerned.

She smiled at me, "Because who am I now dating?"

I laughed and pulled her closer to me, "A complete idiot,"

She chuckled, "Yeah, I am,"

I flicked her nose and kept walking to the destination that I still kept a secret from Elise. I didn't want people hating Elise, she didn't deserve it, especially over something so petty as me.

When I finally came to a stop in front of a small restaurant, I looked over at Elise to see her reaction.

"The Fall Out?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. I didn't say anything, instead I just pulled her inside the building.

Immediately, we were engulfed in the warmth of the restaurant and I started to feel a bit guilty of what we were going to do next. Outside in the cold.

"Hello! What would you like today?" the man behind the counter asked us as we walked up to it.

"I'm here for a pick up?" I asked.

"Yes, yes! You're Mr. Husher?" he asked while he grabbed a few bags that were ready behind the counter.

I nodded and began to pay for the food before a hand stopped me.

"I'll pay," Elise said as she began rummaging through her pockets.

"Nope," I stated, already handing over the money, "I want to pay, sunshine,"

She pouted but didn't resist, which made me smile. To think that this girl liked me enough to be my girlfriend, it was like a dream.

The man laughed as he rung us up, "You got a nice catch there, boy," he told me.

"I know," I smirked, grabbing the bags and Elise hand, before walking out.

"We're not eating there?" Elise asked, looking back at the building as we walked outside.

"Well, no, I planned something else," I told her nervously, "But we can eat there if you want,"

She shook her head instantly, "Whatever you have planned is great, even if I don't know what it is,"

"Trust me, you'll love it," I told her, my voice came out confident but I was so scared that she wouldn't like it.

I wanted to show her somehow that I really cared about this, that I cared about her, and it seemed like words wouldn't be enough or kisses wouldn't be enough. I needed to show her in every way possible that I desperately wanted us to work out to be great together, not perfect, just great.
