Episode 12: New Start in New Haven

I turned over uncomfortably in my sleep as the sweet voice called for me. It coaxed me, though I refused to leave my warm, dependant bed. I curled up in a ball, wishing it would go away. But if it went away, I wouldn't have much of a life. I could feel his large body hovering over mine as I practically rolled away, begging me to leave my pleasant dreams.

"Ice, please, we have to be out today." Thad repeated as I rolled around and gave him the stink eye. I snorted as I turned around again and closed my eyes once again. I then felt cold and weightless. He'd picked me up, something I most hated, and he knew it too.

"PUT ME DOWN!!!" I screamed as I wrenched my body back and forth to wiggle free, dropping myself loudly to the bedroom floor. Thad helped me up as I steadied myself, looking at the few remaining boxes left.

We had been sleeping on a mattress for the past two or three days, and Axe had been asleep in a crib that belonged to Pauline. I wiped my eyes as I pulled my old clothes on, forcing the brush through my scraggly bleach blond hair, a strand or two of pale blue being pulled out in the process. Thad had gotten the baby, cradled safely in his arms, as I gathered my final things and threw them into my bag. I pulled my hood up as I stepped outside, where it was pouring, and opened the car door up. Thad put the sleeping infant in his carseat, buckled him up, then rushed to the other side to get in and start it up. I got in and slammed the door shut, buckling myself in and wiping my face off.

"Are you awake now?" Thad asked as he quickly checked his phone. Alex, Sunny, Roxxy, Harmon, Sammy, and Alma were all on their way down there, or maybe already there since late the previous night.

"Mostly, I don't have any whiskey to burn the shit out of my throat to wake me up." I yawned as I stretched out and he rolled away from the campus. It sucked that we had to leave Blue Mountain State, but I had a feeling we'd be back soon, perhaps to enroll Axe into BMS? It was a short drive, but being in the car with two screaming babies made it feel like ten days. We'd been on the highway for only a couple of minutes, when the traffic was somehow thickening up. I looked around to see what was going on. A set of thick black tread marks where I'd been in the accident that tragic night, twisting and turning like my hair without heat treatment. I squinted my eyes as the orange-yellow light of the sun came into the windshield, and heard the baby emit a little squeak as he yawned and stretched his arms out.

"Good morning bud." I smiled as I reached back and touched his foot, earning a cute little giggle. Thad looked at him through the rear-view-mirror momentarily before looking back and slowing down as bright flashing red and blue lights flickered ahead of the long line of traffic.

"What the hell--" Thad uttered as he came to a halt, looking up to see what was going on. A policeman was wandering along the traffic jam explaining the situation as he rolled the window down. He turned to look at me and made sure his seatbelt was on, as well as my own. I saw a bag with a couple of leftover joints and quickly shoved it into the glove compartment without hesitation. I brushed my hair out of my face as the policeman came up to the window.

"Morning officer," Thad greeted innocently. The officer looked in and saw the baby, half-asleep in his carseat.

"Where you guys headed?" He asked as he looked around our car.

"New Haven, sir." Thad replied nervously, scared he'd find drugs in our car. I knew we only had the weed that I'd stuffed into the dash.

"Alright, there was a four car pileup a bit up the road, there should be only about a--" The officer paused, stepped back, and took his sunglasses off, looking closely at Thad. Thad got nervous and shifted in his seat, probably sure that he was in trouble.

"Are you Thad Castle?" I heard a long whoosh of breath come out of Thad's chest as he relaxed in his seat.

"Yes I am." Thad confirmed weakly as he glanced over at me.

"You must be Alice Castle and that's Axe Castle!" The man exclaimed, "It truly is a pleasure to meet you!" I caught Thad shuddering as the man replaced the glasses on his nose. "Right this way," He gestured towards the right of the jam as Thad waved him adieu, proceeding slowly as the officer radioed his partner to let him know we could pass.

"I think I shit myself back there." Thad admitted as he put both hands on the wheel. I laughed as we passed the accident, sighing afterwards as I felt a bit of empathy.

"Gee, seems like just yesterday that was me." I commented as I looked out my own window. I fell asleep without realizing it, and soon Thad was poking me to awaken me. I looked up at him, squinting as my eyes adjusted.

"Look out the window." He said as he got the baby. I turned around and saw a beautiful lake, the mansion, and a wonderful property. I gasped, not having seen the house yet, and felt like crying over the sheer beauty of the place.

"Thad! It's beautiful!" I cried as I stepped out of the car, the weather in New Haven more perfect than anything. A man in a nice suit approached us and bowed down to Thad as I looked around happily.

"Would you like me to take your car and son to the house, Mr. Castle?" He asked as Thad handed him the baby.

"Yes please," Thad said as he walked over to me. "you, we have to talk." I felt like I was in trouble. Luckily I didn't have my phone on me, because he picked me up and threw me in the lake.

"Thad! You dick!" I yelled as he laughed, standing at the lake side. I grabbed his leg and pulled him in, both of us laughing and embracing each other. Later on, when we toured the house, I felt like it was too good to be true. But that was what you got when you went out with a football star. I turned to Thad and looked at him, getting close.

"You know what?" I uttered as I put my arm around his neck.

"What?"

"We have to bone... In every room in this house." 

"Every room...?" I kissed him deeply.

"Every room." Somehow, nobody else besides the butlers and maids were in the house. I just remember waking up in the indoor pool room surrounded by bottles. I looked around, found myself wearing Thad's boxers and laying in a puddle of strong-smelling alcohol, probably Vodka. I sat up and saw Roxxy laying next to me, naked as well. I poked her and she looked up, shaking her head as she looked at me.

"Did we--"

"--have a threesome?" She finished for me. We both snapped our heads around when we heard a loud splash, then heard Thad clamoring loudly. He'd rolled off the diving board, and fallen into the pool. He got out of the pool and approached us drunkenly, almost falling back into the pool. We then heard someone begin to laugh, and upon turning we saw Alex sitting in the lounge chair, watching the whole thing.

"H-how long have you been there...?" I asked as Alex took his sunglasses off. The glass roof of the room was letting in plenty of light, which was his reason for sunglasses.

"Since I came in and you three were making out." Alex laughed as he stood up, a beer in his hand as usual. I looked at Roxxy, and just laughed. I don't know if it was the booze, or some drugs, but I just laughed. Then she started laughing too. And we all laughed like people from the insane asylum.
