"Okay, tell me everything!" Lina said as soon as I saw her on Monday.
"Nice to see you too." I replied, trying really hard to be sarcastic. Apparently, it didn't get across.
"Yeah, same. Anyway..." Lina looked at me expectantly.
I sighed and told her everything from when Nate picked me up, ordering the same thing and finished with telling her about the kiss on the cheek. I even showed her a picture of me in the dress.
She gasped, "Oh. My. God! Chloe you look amazing in that picture!"
I blushed and looked at the ground. "Thank you." I smiled, flattered.
Just then Nate joined us. He put an arm around each of our shoulders and walked us towards the lockers.
"So Chloe, I'm guessing you've told Lina about what Danny did?" He said with a mischievous grin that told me he knew I hadn't.
Lina looked intrigued at this possible new gossip, "What did he do?"
Nate then went on to tell her everything that I'd told him. She gasped, "That asshole! He didn't believe you'd have a date?"
"Actually, he thought I'd dressed up to impress him." I clarified, getting my book from my locker.
"Omg, he saw you in your dress!" she was much more excited than she should be.
"Yea." I said, still not caring, "Why does it matter?"
"No reason," she said, "It's just I'm bored and this is almost decent gossip. A hot guy saw you in a pretty dress."
The tone in which she said that made me think she was lying about not caring, but at this point I didn't care. I just wanted to read.
I had two free periods today, so I finished the book and got another one. It was called 'A kiss in time' by Alex Flynn.
I loved it mainly because it was a retold fairy tale, which I adore. I'm just so in love with cliche love stories. Actually, any love story.
The next class was Math. We had a test and I was pretty confident I knew most of it. I took my time a bit to make sure but still finished halfway through.
I raised my hand to ask the teacher what to do. On seeing my hand, he looked up, saw it was me and said, "Read."
I had brought my book to class just in case the option arose. I was opening my book when I heard a fake cough and someone mutter, "Show off."
I turned and saw none other than mister golden boy himself. I turned back and heard, "Nerd." come from the golden girl.
Then I heard a different voice fake cough, "Wicked awesome chick."
I whipped my head to the voice and saw Lina. She was faking innocence as she stared at her test but I saw the little smirk on her face. I smiled and turned back to my book. Once again I thought about how happy I was to have good friends.
Our last class was English. As per usual, we were working on our project. Correction, as per usual I was working on our project.
I asked Danny to help but he just shook his head and listened to music. I shrugged and got to work.
I was currently still writing the actual budding romance. However, I wasn't sure how to write it. Despite all my love novels, I still couldn't write how it felt to fall in love.
I thought about Nate and decided that we weren't far enough through the relationship to use the word 'love'.
Most people throw that word around everywhere nowadays. Back when real romance existed, it meant 'I want to marry and spend the rest of my life with you'. Now it means 'I'll date you for now to get what I want, then we'll break up'.
