I awkwardly said bye to Danny, purposely avoiding looking directly at him.
I went back in and saw Lina staring at me like I was an alien from some foreign planet.
I grabbed her arm, told mum we were going, and led her outside.
"Omg!" Lina said once we were out of the house, "What the hell did you do?"
I explained to her that mum spilt orange juice on Danny's shirt.
Lina didn't seem to believe that I didn't do anything. I asked her why not.
She looked at me in obvious exasperation, but I just stared at her, clueless.
"Okay," she began, "if any other girl in the history of the world had a shirtless boy who looked like that in her room, something would happen."
"Okay.... maybe something happened..."
"Omg! But what about Nate?"
"It was nothing, we just almost kissed, I think." I hastily tried to explain.
"You think?! How can you not know?"
I gave her a brief explanation of what happened, leaving out most details. I was leaning away, ready for an explosion.
But then she replied, almost calmly, "I can't believe that you and Danny almost kissed!"
"Twice." I clarified, once again wincing in preparation for the outburst.
"What?!" Her head snapped towards me so fast it almost came off. Not really, but it was fast.
"Yeah, it kind of happened again a few nights ago..."
"You mean, you've almost been kissed, twice!"
I nodded meekly. I expected her to yell and scream but then she totally surprised me. She hugged me.
"That is so great for you, Chloe."
I stared at her in confusion, "But it can't happen again! I have a boyfriend."
She laughed, "You didn't actually kiss, though."
"I still almost cheated on Nate, who's done nothing except be the sweetest boyfriend ever."
Her face fell slightly and she turned her face away from me.
"What?" I asked, worried. This was the second time she'd shut off from me today.
"Nothing!" she said, smiling brightly and pulling me faster to the shops. But I wasn't fooled, and I wanted to know what had her so down.

"Show me, show me, show me!" Lina squealed, excited to see me in the hundredth outfit she'd chosen for me.
I walked out of the dressing room nervously. I was in a skin tight hot pink mini dress.
It just wasn't me, besides the fact that it, forgive me for saying it, made me look fat.
Lina looked me up and down shaking her head, "Not your colour."
"Or my size, style or anything else." I replied, glancing down at it. It outlined my curves a little too much.
She sighed and gestured for me to take it off.
"Hey, Lina?" I called while I was changing, "What were you so sad about?"
She went quiet and replied, "Nothing." but I could here the shakiness in her voice.
"You know you tell me anything." I sympathised, walking out of the change room in my clothes.
She nodded and replied, "But I can't tell you this. It kills me to say that to you, but I can't."
I put my hand on her shoulder and asked, "Please?"
She sighed, "Only if you promise to not hate me, and when you hear what it is, that'll sound selfish, but you're the best friend I have."
I nodded and she mumbled something that I couldn't hear.
"Sorry, what was that?" I asked.
"I kissed Nate."
