Chapter 7- The Night Venus Deterzo Died

Spider-Man swung after Demogoblin as he flew toward a bridge while carrying his girlfriend Venus Deterzo. Demogoblin landed on one side of the bridge holding Venus by the throat. She tried to release herself from Demogoblin's grip but couldn't. Spider-Man landed on the other side of the bridge but Demogoblin threatened, "Nah ah ah! Keep your distance! One move from you, insect and I'll drop your little girlfriend straight to hell!" Spider-Man cried, "Don't do it! Please!"

"Hey there," said the girl in a sweet voice. "I'm Venus. What's your name, tiger?" He answered, "I'm P-Peter." Venus giggled at Peter's stutter as she smiled, "Face it, tiger, you just hit the jackpot."

The Demogoblin chuckled, "You really do care about her, don't you? Aw, that's sweet." Venus continued to struggle as Spider-Man begged, "Please, I'm begging you! Don't drop her! Let her go!"

Venus crossed her arms as she pointed her nose up and her cat ears lowered slightly. Peter sighed as he thought, 'She's just too cute.' He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and kissed her cheek. Venus squeaked as she wrapped her arms around Peter and rubbed his chest, purring. "Guess I did hit the jackpot, didn't I?" joked Peter. Venus giggled, "Oh yes you did, tiger~"

"You want me to let her go?" asked Demogoblin snidely. Spider-Man pleaded, "Yes!" Demogoblin's smirk kept growing as Venus kept trying to get herself out.

When Peter finished setting up his sleeping bag, Venus jumped on his back and wrapped her limbs around him. "Venus!" scolded Peter playfully. Venus giggled as Peter tried to get her off but she had a tight grip. "I'm not letting go~" smiled Venus playfully.

Demogoblin chuckled, "If that's what you want, then that's what you'll get!" He released his grip on Venus as she was screaming in terror. Spider-Man leaped down as he caught Venus and shot a web line on the bridge. Demogoblin looked down as he growled with disappointment. "Hang on, Venus!" cried Spider-Man.

A couple hours later, Venus woke up Peter. "What time is it?" asked Peter. Venus ignored the question and said, "I had a nightmare. Can I sleep with you?" Peter blushed as he asked, "Are you sure?" Venus genuinely nodded as she replied, "I just feel safe when I'm close to you." Before Peter could say anything, Venus stuffed herself into Peter's sleeping bag with him in it.

Demogoblin blasted two fireballs at them but missed as they suddenly made a vortex below Spider-Man and Venus. The vortex was pulling both Spider-Man and Venus down but he held onto his web line.

He gave her a small kiss on her lips and hugged her. Peter assured, "Venus, you're not a freak. You're the most beautiful girl I have ever met and I promise you, I'll always be here to comfort you if you have these nightmares again. Venus sniffed, "Oh, Peter..." Then she kissed him longingly and lovingly. Finally they separated and snuggled each other as they slept.

The web line was beginning to tear as Demogoblin took notice and laughed. He raised his claws and tore the web line and the two began to fall down. Reacting quickly, Spider-Man made two web lines. One for Venus and one for the bridge. "Don't let go!" yelled Spider-Man. Demogoblin flew by as he muttered, "Time for you two to die!" Spider-Man saw him as he kicked Demogoblin away. Demogoblin back flipped away as Venus began to climb up toward her boyfriend.

Peter kissed her forehead and promised, "I'm not gonna let that happen. And neither is your aunt. We'll gonna find a safe place for you until we stop Bench." Venus pressed her lips gently on Peter's lips as she nudged her head on Peter's shoulder. 'I promise you that no one will take you away. I promise,' thought Peter as he hugged her close.

Demogoblin recovered as he snarled with anger as he flew toward the web line that Venus was on and cut it as she began to fall into the vortex. "NOOOOOOO!!!" screamed Spider-Man. He dove down in an attempt to save Venus but she had already fell into the vortex as she screamed, "PETEEEEEER!!!" Spider-Man shot a web line as he looked down and sobbed under his mask.

A familiar Chimera cat Faunus girl jumped on Spider-Man's back as she cheered, "Yay, I found you!!" Spider-Man smiled under his mask as he sighed, "Oh, Venus." Then Venus Deterzo kissed his cheek and giggled.

Spider-Man heard Demogoblin laugh hysterically as he mocked, "What's wrong? Your whittle kitty gone forever?!" Spider-Man gritted his teeth in anger as he suddenly lunged at Demogoblin. Demogoblin was flying uncontrollably as Spider-Man kept punching him again and again. "You creep! You're talking about my girlfriend!" yelled Spider-Man. "Someone I love-- I mean loved--!" Demogoblin grunted as Spider-Man kept punching him. Spider-Man asked, "Do you know what that means?! Do you have any idea what that means?!" Demogoblin was about to fall on the street where the bridge was as Spider-Man leaped off. Demogoblin crashed onto the street as he tried to get up with a groan. Spider-Man punched him in the face as he shouted, "I loved her!" Demogoblin fell on his back as Spider-Man repeatedly punched him as he yelled between punches, "And you--! You-- took-- her-- away! Filthy-- worm eating-- SCUM!!!" Spider-Man breathed heavily as Demogoblin coughed and groaned. Spider-Man noticed civilians watching the whole thing as he thought, 'Good Lord, what am I doing? I could have killed him if I had the chance. I would've become like him... a murderer!' Spider-Man fell to his knees exhausted as he started to cry. A mustached old man with grey hair and sunglasses walked to the upset web-slinger and comforted him. "I'm so sorry of what happened," apologized the man. "No one should take the ones you love like that." Soon a young boy walked up to him and joined with the old man to comfort Spider-Man.

Demogoblin got up slowly and was about to attack, but suddenly stopped when Anti-Venom pierced his white tendrils on Demogoblin and began to cure the symbiote off of him. Soon Demogoblin changed back into Hobgoblin as he passed out. Everyone looked at Anti-Venom with shock and awe. "C'mon, Spidey," said Anti-Venom. "Carnage and Shriek are still out there." Spider-Man sniffed as he nodded with reluctant agreement and stood back up. Then both Spider-Man and Anti-Venom began to web sling away.
