Chapter 17- Team SVRN's Disbelief

After General Ironwood left Team SVRN's dorm room, the team themselves were in complete shock of them being disqualified from the Vytal Festival Tournament. "I can't believe it," muttered Peter. "The Daily Bugle has everyone believing we're a threat even though we saved Remnant from getting invaded by the Synoptic." Venus asked, "Who cares about what they say?" Peter replied, "The problem is I do. For all of us." Johnny nodded, "Yeah, I mean people flip out for the Fantastic Four, they think Daredevil is the coolest, and Captain America turns them on!" Nightingale gently rubs his arm as Johnny added, "One mention of Team SVRN, we're the bad guys. It just isn't fair." Nightingale shrugged, "We would say most things in life is not fair but since we are on the receiving end of how things are not fair, we agree with you." Venus pouted and crossed her arms as she muttered, "It's all Jameson's fault we're like this. How did all this happen in the first place? We don't steal candy from babies and hurt innocent people." Peter sighed, "I guess the more we help the public the more they hate us." The team got into a silence as Nightingale suggested, "How we focus back on bringing the High Evolutionary behind bars?" Johnny shrugged, "Sure beats sitting around and doing nothing all day." Peter said, "Maybe we should know what he's after. First he took Ursula and Jenny and turned them into Bestials and they became Knights of Wundagore with Lord Tyger and Sir Ram. Then Miranda Wilson makes a couple new friends that we already took down." Venus stretched out her arms and yawned, "Nyaaaah, I'm tired... Can you guys go while I take a nice catnap?" Peter smiled as he nodded, "Sure, Venus. C'mon guys, let's go to the library." Venus took off her jacket and shirt revealing her top as she laid down on the bed and got under the covers. Peter sat down next to her as the Chimera cat Faunus' blue and green eyes looked up at Peter. "How did I get so lucky?" asked Venus. Peter smiled, "Funny. I was always wondering the same thing when I first met you." Venus smiled back as Peter held one of her hands. He leaned in to kiss her forehead as he said softly, "We'll be back for a while." Venus shut her eyes as she cuddled her pillow. Peter chuckled quietly as he stood up and joined with his other teammates as they went on their way to the library.

Peter, Johnny, and Nightingale tried their best to ignore the glares their fellow students were giving them. Some of the students weren't glaring at them thankfully. Luckily they didn't believe anything the Daily Bugle said about them. Including Team RWBY and Team JNPR. Ruby chuckled nervously, "So, how is everything Peter?" Peter responded, "Besides the fact that the council and General Ironwood disqualified us from the Vytal Festival due to us being 'menaces' and 'cheating', I'm peachy." Weiss frowned with disappointment, "I cannot believe this. It's like everyone forgot about you guys saving the world from an alien invasion." Johnny nodded, "Exactly." Nightingale came with a bunch of books and placed it on a table. Pyrrha asked, "So what are you up to?" Nightingale explained, "When we were fighting against the Synoptic, we have had encounters with associates who work for a man who calls himself the High Evolutionary. We were hoping we could find anything about him." Nora asked, "By reading?" Peter asked, "Isn't that what a library is for?" Ren huffed, "Thank you!" Jaune asked, "How will you even know if this 'High Evolutionary' guy even exists?" Johnny replied, "Because he was behind the whole Man Spider incident and a couple others especially when Dr. Crawford was turned into a half Bestial and Miranda Wilson turning into a lizard Bestial." Jaune asked, "Wasn't she the one who posed as the actress Mary Jane Watson?" Peter nodded, "Yep." Blake asked, "Where's Venus?" Peter answered, "She got tired from our fight against the Sinister Six and decided to take a nap." Yang asked, "So, why the book reading? What happened to going out on the streets and getting the criminal scum to tell you want?" Peter chuckled, "Well, not everyone can be as persuasive as you, Yang. Plus we already tried that and no street crook out there knows who the High Evolutionary is." Yang shrugged with a smile, "Aw, well. Good luck, guys and girl. Hope you find the guy." The two teams left the three as they went to reading. "First things first, we all know that the High Evolutionary is someone who is an expert in genetics and wants to turn people into Bestials," muttered Peter sarcastically. "Shouldn't be too hard to find," replied Johnny. "We may have found something," said Nightingale. "Who?" asked the two boys. Nightingale showed them her book and said, "It is a theory, but we believe the High Evolutionary maybe the geneticist Professor Herbert Wyndham." The three looked at the book as Nightingale read, "Professor Herbert Wyndham was one of the most accomplished experts in genetics and a well known philosopher. Many years ago Wyndham's work was rejected due to its immorality and illegal experimentations, especially on his own granddaughter. Wyndham has not seen ever since the authorities came to his home." Johnny added, "Until recently." Peter nodded, "Yep, but still we need to know what he's after. How about we call a team meeting in our dorm room?" Johnny and Nightingale nodded as the three went on their way.
