Chapter 13- Agree To Disagree

Team SVRN came over to Vytal Festival fairgrounds. A lot of their fellow students congratulated them for their battle against Team FLVS. Some of them acknowledged Team SVRN as "The Alien Hunters". Even though the Synoptic were destroyed at the nest in the water pumping station, the name still stuck. Peter Parker was reluctantly giving his girlfriend Venus Deterzo a piggyback ride while Johnny Gallo and Nightingale were walking with their arms linked. "Do you know how weird it still is that even though we stopped the Synoptic, we're still called 'The Alien Hunters'?" asked Venus. Peter reminded, "Well, we did spend a part of the school year fighting the Synoptic since initiation at the Emerald Forest." Johnny agreed, "And then some with the High Evolutionary and his bad guys." Nightingale assured the team, "We will all find a way to bring back the friends the High Evolutionary took away from us." Venus smiled as her softly growled. "Guess that battle against Team FLVS made me hungry," said Venus. She pointed to a food stand as Peter chuckled and walk toward the food stand. Peter set her down as he ordered a bowl of noodles and Venus ordered a bowl of fish. She instantly started to devouring it. Peter sighed with an amused smile on his face as he paid the Shopkeeper for the bowls of food.

Johnny Gallo and Nightingale talked to each other. "So where are you from, Nightingale?" asked Johnny. Nightingale answered, "We are from Tè nan Anpati, where Nightingales are born and trained to become empaths. They can be chosen to become anything the Elders decided. We were chosen to become the first Nightingale huntress." Johnny asked, "So, is every woman in your home are named Nightingale?" Nightingale nodded, "Yes, Jonathan. Té nan Anpati is only populated with women and girls named Nightingale." Johnny said amazed, "Wow. How come I've never heard of... uh... how do you say it again?" Nightingale smiled, "Té nan Anpati. The island itself cannot be detected by any maps. It is an inter dimensional island. Only a Nightingale can get there." Johnny asked, "Are you going to go back home when you graduate?" Nightingale smiled, "We were thinking more along the lines of staying with you by your side, Jonathan." She placed her hand around Johnny's head and kissed him lovingly. Nightingale's mother saw her daughter kissing Johnny again and frowned with disapproval. Nightingale stopped kissing Johnny and turned around to see her mother worriedly. Johnny asked, "Is something wrong, Nightingale?" Nightingale lied, "Oh, nothing. W-We just n-need to... see someone immediately..." She quickly walked away as Johnny protested, "Nightingale, wait!"

Peter and Venus saw the whole thing as Johnny sat down next to them. "What's going on?" asked Venus. "What did you say to her?" Johnny replied sullenly, "I'm guessing it has to do with Nightingale's mother." Peter asked, "She still doesn't approve of you and Nightingale's relationship?" Johnny nodded, "Yep." Venus frowned, "Why can't Nightingale's mom just see that Johnny makes Nightingale happy?" She bit into a fish headfirst and frowned cutely. Johnny shrugged, "Easier said than done. Nightingale's mom wants Nightingale to stay more focused on her 'destiny' than actually pursue our relationship." Venus groaned, "You know what? I'm going to give that woman a piece of my mind!" She finished her fish as she stormed away with Peter and Johnny chased after her.

Nightingale crossed her arms as she listened to her mother banter, "You are forgetting your place, daughter! You are the only Nightingale in Té nan Anpati chosen to become a warrior! Instead you waste your time with an outsider and you had the ball bearings to tell him of our home!" Nightingale replied, "Yes the Elders chosen us to become this prophecy warrior, but we have grown fond of Jonathan. He is nice. He is noble. And he loves us and we love him. We are going to become the destined warrior, but we are going to continue seeing Jonathan, whether you like it or not." Nightingale's mother glared at her daughter and she in turn did the same. Suddenly Venus showed up and faced the older Nightingale. "Let me tell you something, ma'am," glared Venus pointing her finger at the older Nightingale. "I brought those two lovebirds together and they were happy! So what is up with you? Can't Nightingale be happy?" The older woman stared down toward Venus just when Peter and Johnny arrived at the scene. Venus stared back fearlessly at Nightingale's mother's stone cold face. Nightingale's mother turned to see her daughter and said coldly, "There will be a time when you will return to Té nana Anpati. And face your destined path, daughter." She turned away as she created a portal and walked into it as it disappeared. "Thank you for standing up to our mother," said Nightingale. "But we had it all under control." Venus pouted, "Yeah, but I wasn't going to take this kind of kitty poo." She crossed her arms and pouted cutely. Nightingale smiled, "Still though, we couldn't ask for a better friend, Venus." Venus instantly brightened up and hugged Nightingale. Nightingale nonetheless hugged her back. Peter and Johnny's scrolls rang and they looked at them. "Doubles round," said Peter. "And the randomizer has chosen Spider-Man and Nightingale." Venus and Nightingale let go as the hooded turquoise skinned girl said, "We must go. Our professors would might want to our progress. Besides, we think it might be joyous to work with you, Peter." Peter pressed a button on his watch as the nanobots created his Spider-Man suit. Spider-Man declared, "Then let's not waste time." Team SVRN ran to go on their way to the Amity Colosseum.

At an undisclosed location...
The High Evolutionary and the Knights of Wundagore watched on the television broadcasting the Vytal Festival. Miranda entered the room as she said, "Master, the experiment is no where to be seen in the streets. I can't even pick up its scent." The High Evolutionary assured, "Do not worry, my dear Miranda. I know exactly where the experiment is." Lord Tyger offered, "Send us, my master. We will retrieve it. I vow it." The High Evolutionary refused, "No. I need a specialized team to handle this one, and Miranda will be the first of the members. Besides, you four had your chance to retrieve it. Miranda, find your new teammates immediately." Miranda bowed down as she complied, "At once, my master." She hurried away toward the exit.
