Team SVRN: Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Venus Deterzo, Johnny Gallo/Ricochet, and Nightingale, face against forces of evil that will put them to the test as Remnant faces its darkest hour.
The High Evolutionary was watching the Vytal Festival on the television as he watched Pyrrha Nikos and Penny Polendina battle at each other in the finals. He could tell something was not right about this. According to certain reports from Miranda Wilson, Pyrrha had the semblance of magnetic manipulation and Penny was secretly an android. He wondered if this was the doing of his old ally Cinder Fall. The High Evolutionary remembered when her faction helped him with finding test subjects for his experiments on creating a way to counter Spider-Man. The end result was creating two monsters with loyalty ties with underground aliens. After that happened, the High Evolutionary decided to refocus his efforts to recreate Remnant into the perfect paradise where everyone was one species and with him as the ruler. That one species was called Bestials and they resembled humanoid animals. Back then, the Herbert Wyndham's ideals were laughed at, rejected, and cut from funding. It even cost him his family to walk away from him. When his work got rejected, it was during the Human/Faunus War. After seeing chaos after chaos of the war, the Herbert sought out that if there must be a perfect world, he must create it himself. Herbert disappeared from the public and made a name for himself in the criminal underworld as the High Evolutionary. Using corrupt funds for his research, the High Evolutionary has his goal set to turning Remnant's populace into Bestials. He also begrudgingly had alliances with the White Fang and Cinder's faction. There were positives in these alliances, the recruitment of Lord Tyger, Doctor Ram, and Miranda Wilson. The negatives of the alliances were the carelessness of one of Cinder's own subordinate Mercury Black. He took an unstable Bestial serum attempt and turned Spider-Man into a feral Man Spider. Luckily the alliance between the High Evolutionary and Cinder's faction was severed after the night of the Man Spider was over. Lord Tyger came to him and reported, "Spider-Man and his team know where we are. They are on their way to our base." The High Evolutionary asked, "Do they have her?" Lord Tyger nodded, "Yes." The High Evolutionary ordered, "Let them in. Tell the Knights not to attack." Lord Tyger acknowledged, "Of course, my master."
Lizard and Mysterio made it back to the High Evolutionary's base underground sewer passageway where they met up with Lady Vermin. Lizard asked, "What's the update?" Lady Vermin answered, "Spider-Man's team are on their way to our base. The High Evolutionary orders not to attack them. They have the experiment with them." Lizard smirked, "So they'll bring her to us."
Team SVRN were in defensive mode as they walked inside the base. "Where's the welcome party?" asked Ricochet. Spider-Man replied, "They must know we're here." Venus Deterzo looked around the hallway as it seemed familiar to her.
