Chapter 14- Spider-Man And Nightingale Team-Up

Spider-Man and Nightingale stepped to the Colosseum where they met their opponents Humberto Lopez aka Reptil and Oracle of Team AERO. Reptil had tan colored skin, dark blue hair, and wore a jumpsuit that was green and black that showed his arms and bare legs. He also wore a medallion resembling a bone. Oracle was a tall young woman who wore a red violet suit with gems that went from her stomach to her chest, gloves, violet shoulder armor, fleece belt around her hips, a gemstone necklace around her neck, and violet boots. Her skin was pale blue, short light blue hair, and dark blue eyes. "Oh, man," said Reptil. "It's Spider-Man! It's really Spider-Man!" Oracle sighed and monotony said, "Yes, Humberto. It is Spider-Man. I can tell." Reptil asked, "You're not the least bit excited, Oracle?" Oracle replied, "I just want to get this over with." Reptil shrugged, "Whatever you say." Spider-Man commented sarcastically, "Isn't she a joy of sunshine." Reptil replied, "You should see her in a good day. She actually cracks a smile."

The arena was now split into fours as the randomizer scrolled down to which background it will stop. On Spider-Man and Nightingale's half, it was caverns with autonomic robotic spiders with sticky wired webs. Spider-Man quipped, "How original." Then on Reptil and Oracle's side was a jungle filled with trees. Reptil smiled, "All right, my element!" Both sides got ready as they went into their battle stances. "3... 2... 1..." said Port. "Begin!"

Spider-Man leaped up and started to web sling away toward the jungle as Reptil proclaimed, "All right, velociraptor legs!" His skin turned red as his legs instantly turned into that of a velociraptor. Then Reptil ran off after Spider-Man.

"Whoa, Barty," said Port in surprise. "When they said that young Humberto Lopez is able change his various body parts into that of the ancient prehistoric lizards, I thought they were kidding." Oobleck replied, "This young man is the living existence of when those proud creatures in history once ruled before us all!"

Nightingale and Oracle battled each other at the caverns while avoiding the robotic spiders and their dreaded webs. Nightingale had her Nightingale Bow and mystical arrows and Oracle had her crossbow. Nightingale shot her arrows as she dodged and shielded Oracle's darts. Oracle did the same as she shot her darts and shielded Nightingale's arrows. Oracle then turned her crossbow into a spear and she leaped into the air toward Nightingale. Nightingale's bow instantly turned into her two katanas as she blocked Oracle's attack. "Impressive for an empath," smirked Oracle. "The same for a telepath," replied Nightingale.

Port commented, "Telepath vs. empath, eh Barty?" Oobleck nodded, "Aw, yes. In history there have been rivalries between telepaths and empaths."

Reptil turned his arms into pterodactyl wings as he flew up toward Spider-Man and cut his web line. Spider-Man landed down as Reptil quickly descended down and transformed his arms to velociraptor claws. Reptil smiled, "Nothing personal, bro, but I have to win this for Mistral." Spider-Man shrugged, "Same here, but for Beacon." Spider-Man's spider sense tingled as he dodged a strike from Reptil. Reptil kept striking at Spider-Man as the spider Faunus dodged and did a couple strikes of his own. Spider-Man then did a spin kick on Reptil as stepped back and said, "Whoa. You really are good. But there could only one." Reptil then did another claw strike at Spider-Man who did a left handspring and Reptil struck a tree instead. Spider-Man shot an impact web ball on Reptil's claws and it got stuck on the tree. "Dude! That is so not cool!" protested Reptil. He tried to pull the webbing off as Spider-Man leaped onto another tree and stuck on it as he said, "Sorry, Reptil. You seemed to be a really nice guy but you know how it is... Vytal Festival, fighting for our schools, trained for this moment, you know?" Reptil finally tore the webbing off as his legs shifted to velociraptor legs and Spider-Man began web slinging away with Reptil chasing after him.

Spider-Man and Nightingale regrouped in between the caverns and forest as Reptil and Oracle also joined together. Then Reptil and Oracle rushed toward Spider-Man and Nightingale as they stood ready. Nightingale and Oracle dueled once again as Spider-Man did a few back handsprings while dodging Reptil's velociraptor claws. Reptil struck once again as Spider-Man quickly dodged and shot an impact web ball that instantly covered Reptil's hand. Reptil then lunged at Spider-Man on the ground as the spider Faunus then kicked him up in the air as he spun a few webs at Reptil, trapping him in a web cocoon. Nightingale and Oracle dueled each other as Nightingale's katanas were instantly knocked away and disappeared. Oracle raised her spear to strike down Nightingale but the empath thought quickly as she made a shield. Oracle kept striking at the shield until it broke like glass. Oracle's spear got by a web line as Spider-Man pulled it away as Nightingale did a sweep kick and Oracle fell down. Spider-Man then stuck Oracle on the ground with his webs as Port announced, "And two of Team SVRN's members win the match!" Oracle smiled, "Seems that I have underestimated you, including you Nightingale. Perhaps one day I will fight along with you with honor." Nightingale nodded, "The same with you, Oracle."

Venus hugged Spider-Man as she smiled, "Yay! You won!" Ricochet nodded, "Nice job." Nightingale kissed his right cheek and smiled, "Thank you, Jonathan." Then as if on cue, Daily Bugle Live was on the TV and J. Jonah Jameson ranted, "Spider-Man And His Team Of Felons Clearly Cheated On All Of Their Matches! This Publisher Of The Daily Bugle Recommends That They Must Not Continue To Compete! In Other News There Is A Report On A Prison Break At This Moment! Spider-Man And His Team Clearly Distracted The Authorities For The Prison Break To Happen!" Spider-Man declared, "Guess we got to get moving." Venus pouted, "But what about telling Aunt Glynda about our plan after graduation?" Spider-Man assured, "We will, just after we stop the prison breakout." Ricochet asked, "What do you two talking about?" Spider-Man replied, "We'll tell you later. Right now, we need to get going." Then Team SVRN rushed to an airship where the prison break was happening.
