"So, what exactly happened?" His father asked.

"As you can tell, I have no clue," Spencer said monotonously. "But they were in government suits."

"Say that again?" His father pierced him with eyes. Spencer backed up, losing almost every thought he previously had.

"They wore purple and green. And they're allowed to have guns."

"Guess it was really dangerous to go here," Spencer's mother muttered.

"Nevertheless, we're safe now. We're in the village. No one dares to go in here," his father concluded. "We'll just research and go home."

"But why were they wearing green and purple?"

"Probably dressed up to scare us."

"Do you think this is somehow connected to the note?"

"Definitely. There can't be that many people who don't want us to know something about the Dapheni."

"But what?"

"We'll find out and still know."

Spencer stood out, playing with his hands to try and contain his worry. The conversation seemed to have stopped, so he headed outside. He had a lot of questions for the Dapheni, and there was one person who could answer them.

He knocked on Vivia's door.

"That's the boy I just told you about, Mom!" He heard. It was Vivia's voice, and soon she appeared at the door.

"What?" She asked calmly and impatiently, leaning against the wall.

"Did I interrupt something?"

"No, nothing," she walked out. "What is it?"

"How do you make these devices?"

"Well, we power them with sky dust," she started pacing faster. "We find it in the sky. It's everywhere, but it can only be seen by the Dapheni."

"How does it work?"

"Well, we just take it from the sky. It's easy. I can see it."

"And I can't?"

"Not until it's gathered," she gave him a mysterious smile. "But it's only there at night."

"Cool," Spencer nodded. "Can I see it sometime?"

"Let's make a deal. We meet at sunset and then I'll show you how I gather it and what it looks like."

"Okay."

She looked at him for a second.

"You humans look weird."

"I've always thought you guys looked weird."

"Maybe we do," She cracked up. Spencer had expected her black irises to be terrifying, but they were alright. Just like normal eyes, only black.

"Anyway, see you at the evening!" She turned around to face home. "I have to help my parents."
