After breakfast he rushed up the stairs.
"Back to exploration?" Vivia asked as she followed.
"Yes. You said that I could study the sky dust," he took a second to look out the window. Everything looked safe, so he returned onto his bed with a loud exhale. He took the pouch out and untied it again, Vivia making herself comfortable on the edge of the nearby bed. Spencer poured the dust out.
"Is this a castle?" He asked. This was a stupid question, he thought, but the dust won't mind.
A pinch of black dust flew up. Spencer barely caught it with his sight, but once it ended, he was sure that it had happened.
"I don't see anything," Vivia squinted.
"It's really hard to see. Really quick and really small."
She nodded, eagerly staring at the dust.
"Cool. Sky dust can't do that."
"So how will we make the device?"
"Right now we won't. Once we get further away, we'll be able to stay in places for a week, maybe."
When Vivia pronounced that, Spencer was hit by something. For the time that he had spent running, he hadn't for once thought about his future. He knew he couldn't do this forever, but he'd have to leave Vivia and the North behind. Where would he go?
He put the dust into the pouch and tied it up. He was desperate to make the device. This was a genius discovery, and it was worth investing in.
"Are we going somewhere?"
"I want to take a walk," Spencer explained. It wasn't enough of an explanation; truly, he just needed to clear his thoughts. He felt guilty for not being fully sincere with Vivia. She was the only friend with him right now, and he still couldn't rely on her to know everything.
"I'll go with you, okay?" Vivia stood up. Spencer felt lucky for some reason. He needed her presence right now.
Remembering something, he hurried to the drawer and took the pouch out.
"Where do I get a belt?" He asked Vivia. She ran down the stairs.
"Wait a second!" She threw his way.
