It was a bunch of dust. Sky dust immediately came into his mind as he picked it up, a little fearful that it would burn his skin.
"Oh! Now I see it," Vivia stared at the bunch.
"That's like sky dust... Right?" Spencer stared at Vivia questioningly.
"You know what?" She grabbed his arm and pulled him away. He was careful for the dust not to slip, but he couldn't constantly keep track of it.
"That's probably another type of magic dust!" Vivia continued. "There are many types of those, you know, but we only know about one of them. Someone told me about that, I didn't really care..."
While she chattered, Spencer clenched his fist. When she stopped, he saw another gathering of blood dust and reached out to get it.
"So it's analogic to sky dust, but only humans can see it."
"Probably!" Vivia seemed giddy with excitement again. "Now we have to learn how to use it. That'd be perfect."
"And who told you about that?"
"My father. That's a pretty old rumor, nobody really knows where it comes from," Vivia turned towards the right direction and started walking. Spencer realized that he didn't know where they were going, but he didn't want to change the topic.
"Where do I put it?" He asked, still uncomfortable with holding it in his fist.
"I'm not sure, but let's not risk mixing it with sky dust," Vivia checked the pouch again. Spencer smirked as he caught up.
"And where are we going now?"
"To Mirot. I'm sure we can figure stuff out about this dust while we're there," she turned around to look at the dust again. "I think that blood dust is a nice name for it."
"Yes, I think that'd do fine," Spencer was hesitant. He slipped it into his pocket, carefully watching as every grain fell inside. Imitating Vivia's habit, he held his hand to the pocket. The glow broke through, touching his fingers. For once, he noticed that the blood dust was warmer than his hands.
His father would love that. Spencer had the urge to note everything down, to create a memory of blood dust. He still had so many questions.
