Vivia stood up.

"Understood now? It's dangerous. You gotta be careful."

Spencer followed her, falling behind a little.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"Thought you knew. In addition, I don't like to talk about it."

"I understand," he sighed, turning in the direction of his home. They split up, and he hurried to the door to see if the house was safe.

It was, for now. He entered.

"We need a lock. Vivia told me something."

"What?" His father looked up at him from the notebook.

"The Elaset government is trying to kill us."

"Why?" Now both were listening, their eyes wide, and Spencer leaned against the wall.

"They don't want our people to know about sky dust because they're afraid we'll go out of control. It's illegal everywhere except for Fadessa."

A loud explosion caused him to turn around. Outside the window everything seemed still. When he looked back, he saw that his father had gotten up and was now standing next to him.

"I think they're here."

Spencer nodded.

"Let's wait until something else happens."

"Enough has already happened."

Another explosion, and panic took over Spencer. He ran outside. He couldn't see anybody, but he ran in the first direction he thought of. When he calmed down, he stopped to look around. He almost wanted to go back home when he saw a group of people there.

Purple and green.

The first thing he thought of was running to Vivia. There was no time for hesitation, so he broke into her house.

"Vivia!"

A hand dragged him out of the house before he even managed to look around. He screamed, struggling out. With the corner of his eye, he caught flames.

Who would think of bringing a flamethrower into an ice desert?

A hand caught him again. He turned around, thinking of fighting.

It was Vivia. With one hand, she was holding him. In the other, there was the pouch. It glowed a familiar blue.

"Why are you standing? Let's run!"

"My parents!"

"They're dead! Everyone's dead!" She shoved him with all her might, and he almost fell. He didn't dare to turn around, but he knew Vivia was next to him. If she wasn't, he was hopeless.

He tumbled on the snow, and Vivia caught him again. A bullet hit them, causing him to let out a howl. He closed his eyes as more bullets followed, and when it stopped, Vivia and he were lying on the ground, a few meters separating them.

Then he noticed that Vivia was getting up, and tried to do so himself.
