Spencer's eyes were closed until the moment he heard something. Right before they opened up, he was still sure that he was safe. The peace and serenity made him think so.

"Spencer!"

He flinched suddenly, remembering the ache in his body.

"Vivia."

Her voice was there, sounding annoyed. He assumed she was angry, but apologizing didn't seem appropriate.

It didn't seem like enough.

He scanned the trailer to find Vivia with his eyes. She was on another seat, hugging her knees with her hands. She targeted a gaze at him, and Spencer felt awkward. The ache was still biting, but he wouldn't let himself relax.

Spencer checked on her pouch, turning his eyes to her waist. Understanding what he was intending to do, Vivia stood up, revealing her belt. Both of the pouches were dangling from it.

"I did my best to hide them," she explained quietly. Her voice was sore, and she coughed again.

He forced himself to stand up, leaning his hand on the back of his seat. He trembled.

Vivia approached the door.

"I was waiting for you to get up."

She went to the driver's seat and looked under. Shaking as he walked, Spencer approached. Vivia's hand was underneath the seat, moving around. She squinted to see it better.

The hand stopped and pulled out carefully. Spencer held on to the seat as Vivia winced. Her hand pulled out quickly.

"I was hoping that we could unscrew it. The plank under it, as I saw, was slightly weaker than the rest.

"You really think this will work?"

"Alright, what's your plan?" She folded her arms. Spencer backed up.

"Fine, as you say."

Vivia reached down again. Her shoes were dusty, but she didn't seem to mind. It didn't matter, anyway.

Spencer felt the chair move under his arm, which caused him to flinch it away. It moved some more, and Vivia got up. She kicked it with her knee before it turned over. Then she tapped her foot on the plank.

"The cabin of the trailer lies pretty high. There are four steps, plus the steps beneath them," she had a thoughtful expression. "That means that if we kneel, we can fit under this and get out."

"Great plan," Spencer congratulated. He hadn't thought that it would be so easy.
