Eleven Years Old
I spent a lot of time staring at the sky.
Recently, the movie 'A Walk to Remember' came out.
I love Mandy Moore, so obviously I wanted to be exactly like Jamie Sullivan.
So much so, that I'd taken to taking my brother's telescope from his room and using it at any time of day.
This began my star gazing.
This began my day dreaming.
I remember laying out on my sister's car one night, and watching as the sun set, and the first sprinkling of stars splattered the sky.
I made a wish, and watched as the world became darker.
Eventually the moon rose and I roped my brother into bringing out the telescope.
He was always really good at finding stars and planets.
I only ever saw blobs of light.
