it's been a week since my date with derek and after i told him that i still wanted him to leave me alone, he's actually sort of listened. i have barely seen him all week and i've even started going back my classes at school. but jay hasn't talked to me since i told him i went on a date with derek.

i sighed, pushing my thoughts of jay and derek away. getting dressed into something girlier than i normally would wear feels different but it's comforatable do i don't care how different it is.

i slide my new flowy black skater skirt on over my electric blue boy spankies, hiding them behind the dark fabric. i had to wear the spankies for cheer practice and i hated it, they rode up my butt so many times and it was beyond uncomforatable. ignoring it i put on my white knitted sweater and let it hang off my shoulder and i left my black hightop converse tied loosely.

quickly exiting my room with my bag over my shoulder i hopped down the stairs and tied my hair up into a loose ponyail, letting some strands frame my face. i stepped into the kitchen and grabbed a pear, a water bottle and a small bag of cheetos.

as i called for conner i stuffed my bag of chips and water bottle into my bag. waiting for him to come downstairs, i checked my make up in the mirror by the front door. seeing a familiar face walk behind me i turned to face him. "hey jay" i smiled weakly, in hope he would actually talk to me today.

he shot me a quick look before rolling his eyes and walking past me through the front door. "see you at school" he mumbled under his breath, not looking back at me before sitting in his car and speeding away from the pack house.

.. well that went well.

at least he spoke to me.

i sighed and turned my earings with my nimble fingertips. thank god it's friday. i called for conner again and counted to ten in my head. when he didn't answer again i ran up the stairs and to our room as fast as i could.

searching all over in our room and finding no sign of him i run back down the stairs and outside screaming his name. the first place i think of was the other cabin that noah and sophia are. i sprint there and once i open the door i hear conner's faint laughing.

i let out a sigh of relief that i found him. following the sound of his voice, it leads to cody's room.

"hey, conner. come on, bud, it's time to go" i said once i saw his mop of blonde hair. they both turn to face me with big smiles on their faces. "what did i miss?" i ask.

cody shakes his head. "nothing" conner giggles and hugs cody. "i see wou layter codyyy" he says in sing song.

cody laughs and ruffles conner's hair. "see you later little man"

conner picks up his backpack from where it was lying and puts his little arms through the arm holes and slings it on his back. "dany's waiting for us in his car. you go, i'll catch up" i said and he nodded before running off.

i look at cody with a raised eyebrow.

"what?" he laughs.

"whenever i see you you always have your earphones on and you look like you're mad at the world.."

he shrugs. "music is my escape"

"escape from what?"

"everything" he shrugs again. he points to the doorway that conner exited a minute ago. "he's a special kid.. take good care of him"

i can't help but laugh. "i've done nothing but take care of him"

"no i mean it. if anything happens to him, i'm going to blame you" he says in an almost threatening tone. what happened to the nice smiling cody that was just talking to my baby brother? well.. my other baby brother. i keep forgetting cody's my brother too.. it's all still new to me. he feels more like a distant cousin that i just met than a brother.. but i'm sure i'll get used to it soon.
