*Karissa Kale aka the Bat-Periwinkle's mother*
Setting: the once vampire court; a closet in a room of the palace, Periwinkle is raiding through ancient clothes-3rd person pov...

"..." Periwinkle rummages through a chest full of extremely old dresses looking for the right fit

"..." her mother watches her with a sharp glare

"You know," Periwinkle starts as she stops rummaging, "as much as you hate me," she goes on, "it would be quicker for you to help me find the right time period of dresses than just stand there watching me-if you want me to leave quicker I mean," she tells Karissa, "and personally, I don't wanna be here any longer than I have to be nor anymore than you want me here," she goes on, "as would much rather be home with my husband and children than here..." she mutters out, "but," she sigh, "I made a promise and I unfortunately have to keep it cause I owe her-"

"You have vampire blood in your veins," Karissa hisses at her, "as such you owe nothing to no one," her fangs bared, "we take what we want when we want-"

"Is that why your three best mates don't have any vampire blood in them?"

"T," she glares

"Why you and grandmother fell in love with mortal wizards?" Peri glances over to her mother, "never mind..."

"You're looking in the wrong trunk," Kari mutters out, giving in to getting rid of her daughter quicker

"Then which one?" Peri sighs

"The trucks are in order by century, followed by year and country-"

"That sounds like a lot of work."

"That one," she points at

"Mm," is her only reply with a single nod as she shoves the dress back into the one trunk before opening the other

"These are all dresses, bobbles and trinkets from that of nobility," Kari tells her, "you think you'll be able to pull off the part a courtier or higher nobility?"

"Think I'll manage," Peri mutters

"Sure," Kari replies unconvinced, "don't wear anything black-"

"But-"

"Back then, black was basically only worn in times of mourning," she explains to her, "so vampires did their best to blend in and stay away from that color in those days."

"Anything but black," Peri mutters, "got it."

"You could claim you're in mourning," she tells her, "but it's still a risk, vampires weren't exactly trusted by wizards in those days...only bring as many dresses as days you plan to stay," she adds in, "and choose carefully as to how long that will be, if you stay too long, your existence in this time will cease to be."

"Why're you being so..." Peri starts, "obliging?-why would you care if I cease to exist, when you could never stand to look me in the eyes."

"Don't misread what I say," Kari hisses baring her fangs, "I can't stand your existence," she adds in, "but if your life cease to exist in that era, other events from that time onward will unravel, various generations mayn't be born into existence and events that are meant to happen every well may not occur. So don't think I care about your life-"

"Please," Peri huff out, "I stopped giving a shit of any sort of concern you may or mayn't have for me a long time ago," she scoffs, "suppose I should thank you though-"

"Do bother thank me for the dresses," Kari mutters

"Wasn't gonna," she replies, "I was gonna thank you for teaching me exactly how not to treat my children."
