This is my first time writing a fanfiction, so I don't know if it will be very good. I hope you guys like it!

I wake up to the sound of my alarm ringing in my ear, and I take my time shutting if off before dragging myself out of bed.

I was getting ready for my first day of senior year in high school. My name is Madeline Lawrence, daughter of famous dancer Ellie Lawrence, who died in a car crash two years ago, along with my father.

I now lived in an apartment in New York City with my aunt Amy, my mothers younger sister, who had been taking care of me since my mother died. She never married, so she had plenty of time on her hands to take care of me.

I made my way into the kitchen to pour myself a bowl of cereal, only to be interrupted by my aunt interrogating me like always.

"Got any plans for after school today?" My aunt questioned, leaning her elbows on the counter as she watched me pour my cereal.

"No, I'll probably just come home and read or something." I murmur, taking my bowl and carrying it over to sit on the couch.

I know what you're thinking, why on Earth would a teenage girl with a famous dead mother be reading in her free time? Well, I'm not celebrity material.

I didn't really have any friends in school, I was very quiet and different from all the girls in my grade. I didn't like going to parties every night or anything, I would rather have my nose in a book.

I was tall and very slender, with long wavy brown hair that reached my shoulder blades. I wasn't particularly pretty in my opinion, but I wasn't bad looking either.

"You know you could be at the studio, they'll always want you back dancing." My aunt nags me, like she did nearly every day.

"You know I can't" I mutter, finishing off my cereal and standing to carry it over to the sink.

When my mother was still alive, I used to dance, and I was almost as good as she was, it was in my blood. But after she died, it wasn't the same. All I could think of when I danced was her, and I couldn't stand it anymore.

My mother was my best friend, we did everything together. She was the one who taught me how to dance just like her. I spent my childhood going to her shows with my father.

"You know she would want you to, Mads." My aunt said thoughtfully, watching me as I turned to face her.

Without a response, I walk into the bathroom to take a quick shower. When I was done, I walk back to my bedroom and change into dark skinny jeans and a loose fitting pink sweatshirt, and black moccasins.

I pull my wet hair back into a pony tail, away from my face. I put a thin layer of black mascara over my eyelashes, I had never been a big fan of makeup, I would only wear it during my old dance recitals.

I grab my phone and my book bag before making my way out of my room, glancing at my aunt before heading towards the door to the apartment. My aunt drove me to school every day, and it was time for me to leave.

"Let's go" I say quietly, opening the door and exiting before waiting for her to follow.

Thanks for reading guys, I hope you like it! Please leave comments and tell me what you like or any suggestions, but please no hate! Ansel will be in this story, but not for the first couple chapters.

PS- Maddie's last name, Lawrence, has nothing to do with Jennifer Lawrence (although I love her!) I just really like the last name.
