After Ansel came over for dinner, we only had a month before I was going to the The Fault In Our Stars premiere, so we had a lot of work to do. Since I was attending as the date of Ansel Elgort, who was playing the one and only Augustus Waters, i had to look absolutely flawless. Although Ansel insisted that I looked gorgeous to matter what I was wearing, not everyone felt that way.
I got in contact with his stylist, and Ansel was right, she was extremely excited to be dealing with a girl for once. We planned to meet during the week so she could take my measurements and show me different dresses, because she wanted me to have a say in what dress I would wear.
When we arrived at the address she gave us 4 days before the premiere, it was a very large building here in New York City, and as soon as we entered, you could tell it was obviously a very high status place for famous people. The designers and other workers walked around in pencil skirts and designer blouses if not in the perfect dresses. I felt very out of place in my plain clothing.
I guess I wasn't only feeling out of place, they also thought I was out of place. I'm sure all of the celebrities that came in here for fittings were dressed in the most perfect, expensive clothes, but that was definitely not me.
"Excuse me ma'am, do you need directions somewhere?" I hear a voice ask from behind a large desk a few feet away from the doors into the building.
I look up to see an older, woman sitting at the desk, giving me a grumpy look. I glance over at my aunt before walking with her up to the desk, talking to the woman in a quiet, shy voice.
"Um, yes. I'm here-"
"Madeline, is that you? Oh it's great to meet you, Claire, she's with me! This is Ansel Elgort's girlfriend!"
I look for the source of the voice, to find a middle aged woman with short blonde hair clipped away from her face who had appeared from a large arch way to the left of the desk. This must be Marie, Ansel's stylist. She was wearing a blue dress, that went down to just above her knees.
The woman behind the desk, who I'm assuming is Claire, dips her glasses down to get a good look at me before returning them to her face, her eyebrows furrowed.
"This is Ansel Elgort's girlfriend?" She asks obviously surprised that I was just a tall, skinny average looking girl and not some beautiful curvy celebrity.
"Yes, it is. Come with me, Madeline." Marie says with a genuine smile, a lot more kind than Claire at the desk.
I nod and avoid Claire's stares as I walk behind the desk and follow Marie through paths crowded with designers, and racks full of beautiful gowns and outfits.
I couldn't help but look around in awe, half at the clothing and half at some of the girls who were trying on outfits, obviously models. I nearly tripped when I saw Cara Delevingne herself, my all time favorite model, being fitted in a yellow patterned floral gown.
I steady myself on my aunt and look back ahead to follow Marie, still absolutely dazed that we were actually walking through this place. Eventually, we come across a sleek white door with a black handle, and Marie slowly opens the door, explaining to us as she gestures for us to walk in.
"I told everyone we would do your fitting in my office so it would be a little more private." She says with a smile and I quietly thank her as I look around her office, and it was a good size. There was a giant desk with a desktop computer, and various racks of clothing.
I was very grateful she arranged for us to have my fitting in here, because unlike the other celebrities and models who were being fitted here, I was not very confident or open with my body.
