"All done sweet pea." I say as I look down at her beaming her eyes out.
"Look pa, its even better than the last one we had. And bigger too!" She says.
The people of the village had been very kind to help us rebuild the barn and also asked if we could breed their horses and teach a few kids blacksmithing.
"Ofcourse. Aren't yah happy that diablo will get new friends?" I reply.
"Oh yes pa! Now he won't always nudge me and neigh in my face." She says immitating her horse.
It was hard to accept that she was growing up. Her mother would be proud to see how hard we have tried to manage to survive.
After thanking the villagers, we get inside and start reparing whatever we had salvaged. To my advantage, Elsa had started learning how to knit so all the cloths that had been burnt, new ones would be sown.
"Have yah thought about what yah want to be when yah grow up sweet pea?" I ask her.
She smiles cheekily and says, "I want to be a horse breeder, blacksmith, repair woman, seamstress and..." she says as I stop her in her tracks.
"Hold yer horses sweet pea. Yah have to choose one!" I say laughing.
"You didn't even let me finish pa. I want to have children just like you so I have to work hard." She replies. Her answer stuns me speechless.
"Uhm...well, will yah go to the market for me? We need a few supplies." I say still thinking of what she has just said.
"Sure pa." She replies as I hand her the list. Olivia would have a fit if she was the one having this talk with her. Who even thinks about having children at this age?
"Hurry on back before the darkness comes in and say hello to that sweet old lady who sells turnips for me will yah!" I yell after her as she climbs on diablo and rides away.

I tie diablo to a nearby tree as I collect the items on pa's list then I bump into a boy carrying wood."Pardon me I did not mean to knock yah down." I say as I offer my hand to help him up and yank him off the ground immediately he takes it.
"Thankyou. You have alot of strength for a young lass." He responds.
"I do alot of work. Me pa dislikes lazy people." I tell him.
"What is your name if I may?" He asks.
"Elsa, what's yours?" I reply.
"Ardan. Nice meetin' yah." He says as he hurries off to wherever he is taking the wood.
I finish off at the market and get back on diablo. I pass by Miss Afric's house, the sweetest old lady in the village and say hello to her as pa had said then I go on home.
"Hello sweet pea. Did yah find everything?" Pa asks.
"Yah. I even discovered that we can get wood there. Yah don't need to leave me here all the time." I say.
He smiles at me and takes away the vegetables I had brought then kisses me on the forehead and tells me to go have a bath.
"But pa! I bathed in the morning!" I protest.
"I know buy yer a lass sweet pea. Where I come from, lasses bathe twice a day. Now off yah go." He says pushing me in the direction of the bath.
I go as he starts preparing supper and our cots for sleeping.
