H A M E S H A

[hindi, urdu → forever, eternally, always]

Maya looked into the mirror, her eyes fixed on the reflection of herself. She had changed so much—from her sulky looks, her frail body and the sadness in her face. All of it seemed to change. And the change was because of Nathan.

Only eleven days have passed since she met him and it never felt any better than that. Maya had him by her side even when she felt completely alone. They've hung out in malls, bars and even sat by the beach, enjoying the beautiful view of the sunset in San Diego. And she liked his company, she really did.

But did he like her company? Or was this all just an act? A deception?

Pushing away the negative thoughts, Maya focused on the good side of him—which was the only side that Nathan had, she believed. She thought of the day before, where they hung out by the bar, taking multiple shots that got them so drunk that they dozed off in the car outside the parking lot.

She smiled at the thought of him, waking up drunk and looking confused as hell. Maya was really drunk too—she could've sworn that she had herself half-naked in the car, with a drunk Nathan on top of her.

Nothing happened, but she wanted it to happen so badly—all Maya wanted was the fun memories she had with Nathan, where they were all happy and so carefree of their problems. And Maya wanted it to stay like this forever.
