[Chapter 63]: Hero

"Dabi... You-"

Your words fell on empty air. He was gone. You sat there, taking a moment to allow everything to settle in.

Dabi.

You held out your hand and peered down at it, eyes growing solemn and soft.

He... let me go.

"(Y/N)!" Katsuki practically dived into you, throwing his arms around your torso and yanking you against him. The collision nearly knocked the wind out of you.

"Ow! God Katsuki, I'm right here you idiot!" But he wasn't listening. His face was glued against your chest. Smiling gently you ran your fingers through his hair.

He's shaking.

Sliding your arms down his shoulders you pulled him closer, taking time to rub gentle circles along his back.

"Katsuki I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere from now on. Okay?"

He didn't answer vocally. He didn't need to. But you heard him exhale and felt him nod his head lightly.

We're gonna be okay.

The heroes had managed to clean up the mess below. All Might prevented the building from falling down entirely, while the other heroes stopped the plummeting rubble and evacuated civilians. There were a few injured, but thankfully nobody was killed.

Katsuki carried you down to the foot of the building only to be met by a troop of military officials.

"The fuck is the big idea?" Katsuki growled towards them, practically staring down the barrels of their guns.

"We're here to take the World-Eater into custody-"

"She's got a fucking name jackass. It's (y/n), got that? I'll say it one more time slowly so your puny brain can handle it. Ready, repeat after me-" You brought your fist down on his head lightly.

"Katsuki Bakugou give it a rest."

"The fuck (y/n)? I'll kill you."

The group of military just watched on as you bickered, absolutely dumbfounded.

"You two never stop, do you?" You and Katsuki looked back up at the voice, noticing Aizawa pushing through the crowd. He set his hand on one of the rifle barrels and pushed it down. "Put those away, you're not authorized to shoot."

"Aizawa..." Slowly you crawled off of Katsuki's back and walked forward.

He's probably... Had to deal with so much because of me.

Wrapping your arms around him, you pulled yourself against his chest tightly. Aizawa was a bit surprised. He wasn't use to getting hugs and his awkwardness showed through his stiff posture.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry!" You sniffled. "I swear I didn't mean too... I know I've caused you so much trouble..." The waterworks were full on flowing now.

Aizawa's face softened. He placed his hand on top of your head and patted it in a comforting manner.

"Wow Eraserhead, I didn't know you were such a softy." Thirteen chuckled as they made their way through the crowd.

"It's surprisingly youthful of you~" Midnight added, following close behind.

"INDEED!" All Might yelled as he plummeted from the sky and crashed down next to you.

Aizawa's once soft face quickly wrinkled in annoyance. You stepped away from him and wiped your tears before smiling up at him. He glanced at you for a moment and didn't say anything. But you could tell he was pleased by the way he crossed his arms and curled his lips slightly.

"(Y/n), I hope you do realize that finals are next week." He smirked.

Oh fuck.

"Hey now... You can't at least give me a little extra time?" You questioned, inching towards him as sweat began to appear on your brow.

"Nope. This is what you get for running off and causing so much trouble." He tapped his knuckles against your forehead. "Study hard."

"AIZAWAAAAAAAAA."

The other heroes began laughing. Katsuki even found himself smiling a bit.

"Heroes please move aside." A man in a suit called out from the crowd, approaching the group from behind. Your brow furrowed a bit at the sight of him. It was the military supervisor who had been left in charge of you; The very man who had first sent you to UA. Katsuki noticed the shift in your face. He took hold of your hand and yanked you back behind him. "As touching as this all is, I'm afraid the girl's gonna have to come with us."

"NO WAY IN FUCK THAT'S GONNA-"

"Bakugou calm down." Aizawa demanded, before taking a deep breath and walking before the man. "I don't believe you have permission-"

"I do." The man brought a paper before Aizawa's face. "I have received clearance from Tokyo's head of military. Now step aside." Aizawa clicked his tongue. Midnight stepped forward to speak.

"Wait a moment, the military and the Heroes Association have joint custody of (y/n). You can't just waltz in here-"

"My orders to apprehend the World-Eater takes priority over our contract. If you have a problem, you can take it up with us at the girls trial."

Trial?

Of course there were going to be repercussions. You expected it. But even though it was anticipated, there was a part of you that was just hoping you could happily go back to school and live your life.

"You little..." Katsuki growled under his breath.

"This is outrageous, she's only a child!" All Might started. The teacher's arguments became background noise as a million thoughts raced through your head. You swallowed thickly and squeezed Katsuki's hand.

"I'll go."

Katsuki's eyes shot back to peer at you. The teachers also looked astonished.

"(Y/n) wait a moment-"

"It's okay Aizawa." You lifted your gaze from the ground to meet his. "I'm going to be a hero, so I have to follow the rules. Right?"

His eyes widened, noticing the fight still left in you. You weren't giving up. You weren't running away. This is how you wanted to go about things.

You gave Katsuki's hand another reassuring squeeze before pulling away. But he didn't let go.

"WAIT A DAMN SECOND (Y/N), YOU CAN'T JUST-"

"I love you Katsuki." The boy's yelling ceased. You gazed directly at him and smiled. "And I'm coming back to you."

He stood for a moment quietly before his face softened. Slowly his fingers released yours, allowing you to walk forward between the heroes. You gave each of them a small grin as if to thank them. Reluctantly they remained silent, well aware that there wasn't anything they could do at the moment.

"I'm happy to see that you're at least reasonable World-Eater." The suited man smirked. You held your wrists together and allowed them to handcuff you.

"Please sir. I'd appreciate it if you called me by my hero name, Gigaton."
