[Chapter 16]: To tell you

He really just said that. 'I like her'. In front of everyone...

The whole class just stared with their mouths hanging open. You were speechless as well. It took a moment to collect yourself before trying to speak up.

"Oi, Katsu-"

"JUST SHUT UP AND STAY STILL." He yelled before turning back around and stomping off towards the inn. Izuku and Ochaco just looked at each other and giggled.

"Geez. Honestly, Bakugou is the only guy I could imagine who would break a girls wrist and then admit he likes her." Kirishima said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"His tastes must run in that direction..." Mineta added.

Katsuki continued down the road towards the inn, not saying a word. You were both still in your bathing suits, meaning that you were pressed up against his bare chest. He was warm. You let your head rest against him for a moment. He smelled like ash and sweat, not necessarily in a bad way though. Your face began to heat up before you pulled away from him.

"Put me down, I can walk." He ignored you. You clicked your tongue and raised your voice. "Are you even list-"

"I saw your legs shaking. I'm not a fool, so piss off." You looked up at him slightly confused.

"So let me get this straight. You break my wrist, scream that you like me, and then tell me to piss off? I think I'm gonna need a damn instruction manual to translate your behavior." His face reddened and he avoided eye contact.

"I promise I'll fucking explain myself. Can you... Just wait until after you get treated?... Please." You wish you had a camera. Katsuki's blush had infected his entire face. He was almost unrecognizable. You chuckled and allowed your head to once again rest against him.

"Okay, you idiot."

That made the boys heart jump. He was upset with himself for allowing his emotions to run wild and spilling the beans. 

But now that the truth was out, there was no way in hell that Katsuki Bakugou was going to back down.

-At the Inn-

"I leave the class alone for a few hours and this is what the hell happens?" You and Katsuki sat on the infirmary bed as Aizawa scolded you. He covered his face with his hand. "I really don't get paid enough for this...:"

"Don't get fucking mad at her, I'm the one who did it." Katsuki looked down at his hands. Aizawa glanced at him.

"Yes, but she is also responsible for initiating. Anyways, I hope whatever happened was worth it. Recovery girl isn't here so you'll have to deal with the typical process." You nodded in response.

"I understand. And I assure you, it was well worth it." You looked at him with a smile. Aizawa's eyes widened before he couldn't help but grin. The doctor walked back in holding an x-ray.

"Well (y/n), it looks like your radius is broken in two spots and you have a couple of bone fragments that need to be removed. It should be a pretty simple surgery."

God dammit, surgery really? He couldn't have hit the ball a little softer.

Aizawa sighed, got up and patted Katsuki on the shoulder.

"Bakugou we're gonna need to leave the room for the operation." Katsuki only looked down with a nod before getting up and heading over to the door. He paused and turned back to look at you, to which you responded with gentle smile and wave. His brow only furrowed further as he exited the room.

They had a full medical team with an operating room on the island due to the likely event of a training accident, although you couldn't really call this a training accident.

The surgeon walked into prep you. As they put you under, you couldn't help but smile thinking about Katsuki.

What an idiot...

Your eyes slowly opened. Your head was still pretty fuzzy but you managed to sit up a bit. "Ahh, you're awake (y/n)." The doctor called over to you. Rubbing your eyes, you groggily responded.

"Yep, barely. How'd the surgery go?" She smiled and brought you the x-rays.

"It was a success. You'll just have to deal with some pain for the rest of the trip until you get back to U.A. Recovery girl can fix it after that. For now, we'll have you on some pain meds. Do you have any questions?" She asked.

"Just one. Where's my friend that came in here with me earlier?" She looked up from her clipboard and pointed towards the door.

"The angry blond one? He's been out in the hallway this whole time." She grinned and scratched the side of her face with her pen. "You should have seen him ranting and raving. He asked everyone who entered and exited the room how you were doing." Your face went red. "Ohhh, I see. He must be your boyfriend huh?" Your blush only intensified.

"H-He's not! I guess... I just don't really know right now." You looked down before the doctor touched your shoulder.

"Life's too short to deny your feelings. Nothing will get done until you make it happen."She had such a tender, motherly presence. It made your eyes water a bit.

"Sorry about that. Thanks for taking care of me doc." She smiled and got up, walking towards the door.

"I have other duties to attend to. I'll check up on you tomorrow morning. I'll let the boy know he can come in." She walked out. Not a moment later, Katsuki came bursting through the door.

"(Y/N), ARE YOU FUCKING OKAY?!" He yelled. You cringed at how loud he was being.

"I don't know. Your screaming might put me back under." He sighed and sat on the edge of your bed.

"Idiot, how could you even be making jokes right now..." You only laughed.

He must have been really concerned to have waited outside for the entire surgery.

"Thank you for worrying, Katsuki." He looked up at you. You wore a beautiful, gentle smile. It was almost 7 pm so warm rays of golden light were streaming through the window, casting a glow across your features. He gulped before speaking quietly.

"I like you."

Your eyes widened. He wasn't looking away this time. His gaze was set on yours. You felt as though he could see right through you. Katsuki reached down and grabbed your good hand gently, rubbing his thumb across it.

"Dammit (y/n), I fucking like you alright. How... do you feel about me?"

Life's too short to deny your feelings.

"I like you too Katsuki, and I have for awhile."

It felt like the world stopped for just you two. The smile that graced his face was so genuine that you felt your heart melt. He placed a hand on your cheek, running his thumb under your eye.

He's gonna kiss me.

He began leaning in, allowing his eyes to close. Your heart felt like it was going to burst. You really wanted too, but you knew that there were things that needed to be said.

"Katsuki." You placed your hand on your cheek atop his. He paused and opened his eyes. A fire had been lit within you.

"I have some things I need to tell you."
