Today I'm going to Rick's house to explain to him what happened back in Florida. In these few months we have been dating I haven't actually had a chance to tell him the whole story. All he knows is that my parents are divorced.

I grab my bag and head out the door. I walk down to his apartment building and head up to his penthouse. The elevator brings me up to his floor.

Bing

The elevator opens and I see Rick sitting on the couch. He turns his head at the sound of the elevator door opening. He smiles at me and hops over the couch and runs over to me. He puts his hands on my cheeks and moves his face close to mine.

"I missed you so much, my love." And with that, he kisses me passionately.

It only lasts a moment until I disconnect my mouth from his.

"Woah, big guy. We need to talk." I whisper as my hands roam his chest.

"Hm? About what?" He asks as he puts his hands on my waist.

"My parents. And why they are separated." Rick looks surprised.

"Oh... okay. Let's sit down."

We sit on the couch and I start to explain to Rick.

"So the real reason they broke up was that my father was cheating on my mom."

"Oh my god! I had no idea. Who was he with?" He asked concerned.

"He was with my Aunt. My mom's sister."

"Wow. That's horrible."

"Yeah. It was my father's birthday when we found out. They were making out on my parent's bed. We just got back from getting him a present, I never gave it to him. He claimed that they were breaking up. Mom didn't believe him and neither did I." I sighed as I relived that moment.

"I wonder if they did break up." Rick comments.

"Yeah me too. I actually have to see him tomorrow. Mom wants me to ask him some questions."

"You okay with that?"

"Yeah, I'm doing it for my mom. She needs closure." I roll my eyes at the last part.

"I'm proud of you for doing this for your mom. It's really big of you." He kisses my cheek.

"Thanks. He only wanted to see me, so my mom couldn't see him."

"I mean it, babe, you've grown so much this past couple of months. I'm so proud of you." I smile at him.

"Thanks, sunshine." I wrap him in a big hug.

"I'm sunshine now?"

"Yeah, you lighten up my day." He gives me a goofy smile.

"Aww, thank you. Have I ever told you how much I love you?"

"Yes, and I love you more."

"Doubt it."

And with that, he moves his face closer to me and kisses me slowly. His lips taste so good, I never want this moment to end.

About an hour later we are sitting on the couch together with a bowl of popcorn and a movie on the TV. Rick picked a horror movie, probably so I would jump into his arms because I'm scared... he knows me too well.

And he got what he wanted. About halfway through I got scared of a zombie who jumped out of nowhere. I snuggled closer to Rick and hide my eyes in his chest. His sent fills the air around me and calms me down instantly. He kisses my head and protectively wrapped his arms around me.

"It's okay my love. The zombie is gone." He whispers stroking my hair.

"W-what if it comes back?" I ask dramatically

"It won't, I promise."

"Okay," I say as I lift my head to look at the TV.

We watch the rest of the movie in silence. It was pretty good... besides the zombies.

After the credits start to roll I get off the couch and stretch out. Rick moans in frustration.

"Come and sit back down babe. Please?"

"I can't, mom is coming home and I have to make dinner tonight."

"Oh, so you make dinner for your mom but not me?" He teases and gives me a pout.

"Relax boy, my mom works all day you don't." I roll my eyes.

"Ok, maybe I'll get a job. Then can you cook for me?" He says with a serious face.

"Why do you need to get a job? It's not like you need the money." I say as I gesture to basically everything in his penthouse.

"Well, I want to make a living for myself, not take money from my dad."

"Okay, that's reasonable. If you get a job and keep it for at least a week I'll cook you a meal." I stick my hand out for him to shake.

He smirks at me, "You got yourself a deal." He grabs my hand and gives it a firm shake.

I walk to the elevator door with Rick trailing behind me and I grab my bag.

"Well, I'll see you at school babe." I kiss his cheek.

"Please don't leave." He gives me his best puppy dog eyes and pout.

"I have to Rick. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay, love you."

"Love you too." I press the button for the elevator.

I step into the elevator and before the doors close I wave at Rick and he waves back.

Today was a good day.
