"Spencer!" another random voice called my name. I just smiled at the unfamiliar face that waved to me.
This party was filled with so many people I didn't know who happened to know my name. Niall stayed by my side the whole time, an arm secured around me.
The whole time I searched for one face, though there was no doubt in my mind that he wouldn't be there.
"Mind if I steal your girlfriend away?" Sophia came up to us. "She looks like she could use some serious girl time." She was wearing a tight, short dress with lase that covered the chest. Her normally wand-curled blond-streaked hair was straightened and waved with short bangs swooped to the right. For a student who wore uniforms everyday, she pulled this off sexily and I was jealous.
I was just in skinny jeans and a t-shirt. But it sure beat those ugly uniforms.
Niall released me from his protective hold and Sophia pulled me over to the kitchen.
"Enjoying yourself?" she smiled, picking up a red plastic cup off the table.
"Yeah, I guess. Except for the random guys calling my name." I shrugged.
"What? You don't like the male attention?" She raised an eyebrow.
"It's not that, I just..." They're not the males I want attention from, I wanted to say. "British isn't my type."
"Like a little more of that Irish cream?" she nudged me.
I smiled. "It's not like that. He's just being friendly."
"Does Niall know that?"
I shrugged. I wouldn't mind if it were something more... He was really sweet and funny and total boyfriend material.
"Some of the football girlfriends told me they saw you hanging out with Malik during practice." She eyed me as she took a sip of her drink.
"Oh that... That was just...nothing." I assured, though I didn't even know what it was.
"'Nothing'!" She gasped. "Do you realise no one in London has heard Zayn Malik speak, let alone gotten him alone."
"What's the deal with him? Why is everyone so riled up about this?" I questioned.
She leaned closer to me and lowered her voice. "I'd stay away from him if I were you. Someone from his home town came and told us that the last person he got close to went missing. At least, that's what Lottie told me."
I mentally rolled my eyes at the ridiculous rumour, but I nodded as if I believed her.
"All the girls were in love with him when he showed up. We all wanted his attention. He's so...." Her voice trailed off as she slurred. "You know what I mean right?" she laughed.
Of course I did.
"Hey, want a drink?" She oddly changed the subject.
"Isn't that illegal?" I asked.
She laughed. "Sweetheart, you're not in the states anymore. The drinking age is 18 here."
"Oh," I smiled. "Then sure, why not?" She handed me a cup filled with some kind of fruity drink that had the scent of alcohol eroding from it. I took a small sip and the drink sent chills throughout my body.
I found myself gulping the whole thing down during one conversation with Sophia.
"Mind if I steal her back for a bit?" Niall appeared at my side.
"She's all yours." Sophia giggled in her drunken state.
Niall took my hand and pulled me out of the kitchen to be greeted by a couple making out with each other on the wall, they were practically one person the way they were getting at it.
