"So," I began, lifting the last bite of pizza to my mouth then swallowing, "where were you today?"
He furrowed his eyebrows, taking a bite out of his slice.
"Where were you after 4th period? You weren't at lunch or any onther class after and Sophia told me they called you down to the office." I clarified.
"Did you missed me?" He asked.
"Well...yeah," I admitted.
"I figured you were too angry with me to notice my absence." He teased. I had noticed his voice wasn't monotone like it normally was when he spoke. There was expression in his voice; you could hear his emotions though he still never let them show.
"I wasn't angry with you," I confessed. "I was just frustrated."
"With what?"
"Like I said, you were shutting me out. You kissed me on Saturday and acted as if it was nothing but kissed me like it was everything."
"That is why I'm leaving school."
"What?" I questioned, in the most confused way possible. "What do you mean you're 'leaving school'?"
"Just that," he stated.
"Wha- But....why?"
"For that reason." He positioned himself to face me as I brought my legs up on the couch. "I treated you that way because I came to London to be that way. I don't like letting anyone in. You practically forced your way here. I can't be the me that I am with you if I'm not only with you."
I was still a little thrown off and it reflected off of his face that it was obvious.
"I made the decision to leave yesterday when you got upset with me. That's why I was gone today."
"So I'm the reason you're dropping out of school?" I raised an eyebrow.
"It sounds crazy when you say it out loud, but yeah..." His eyes searched mine for approval before he defended his case further. "I'm taking college prep courses online, I've already gotten an early acceptance to Oxford; just in case you were worried about my education."
I let the information sink in before sighing. "It doesn't matter what I say, the deed has already been done. But I don't want you to do this for me..."
"But I did this for me too. I feel a lot better, to be honest."
"I can tell." I smiled. "This is the most we've ever spoken. And you're not just giving me straight answers. Now if you would just smile..."
He frowned; I knew I had pushed a button. He didn't say anything, he just turned his gaze away from me.
"Can I have that?" I changed the subject to the slice of pizza in his hand. He perked up a little bit and handed me what was left over from his pizza.
He wouldn't look at me and he remained silent, staring at nothing. I wanted nothing more than to know what he thought about in moments like this one. He got so deep in thought, like when he was painting or drawing, he'd go to another world; but in these moments, when he wasn't painting or drawing, he went to a dark place. When making a masterpiece he'd be in a peaceful, pleasurable universe; right now, he was somewhere lonely, dark, and unpleasant. He began to look like he was about to cry, then his eyebrows furrowed in anger.
"Zayn," I whispered. He didn't budge, not even a twitch. He hadn't heard me. I reached for his hand and spoke again. "Zayn look at me." His angry, dark eyes met mine and softened to a light brown. "Are you okay?"
He studied me closely, as if he was making sure I was me.
"Zayn-"
"Shh!" He snapped, still staring at me. I looked up at him for a few more moments before he slowly brought his hand to my chin. He pulled my lips up to his and kissed me slowly, and softly then dropped his hand to my waist. I placed my hand on his on his jaw and continued to let him kiss me without an explanation. He pulled my body closer to his as I settled more into the kiss.
