To say that the club was packed full would be an understatement. There were many sweaty bodies bumping and grinding against each other.

I blame R Kelly.

Yeah, blame him.

Ace's friend, Rashad, had offered to drive us here since he was now alcohol free. He was always the life of the party so I guess he just wanted to see if he could still have a good time minus being intoxicated. I was all for it since I knew that I wouldn't be able to get through the rest of the night without something strong. Erica pulled me to the last open area of one of the bars and ordered shots; cola for Rashad, of course. Ace still hadn't spoken to me since our awkward conversation earlier and I felt like he was deliberately ignoring me. I had spent the first part of the evening wondering why Ace acted like how he did. I wanted to speak to him but I knew I had to act as if I were invisible for the next few hours whilst he did his usual routine of seducing anything with a vagina and breasts.

"You look good girl!" Erica shouted in my ear over the loud music.

"You think so?" I responded unsure. I had kept it simple with a low cut lace bodysuit and a pair of tight, faux leather pants. I had my brother's oversized camouflage jacket draped over my shoulders. I have never been confident about my body so I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone.

"You need to be more assured in yourself. Shae should feel blessed to be with you!" I blushed at her comment and hid my face behind my hands. I could hear her girly giggle as she pried my hands away. After a few minutes, the bartender placed the tray of drinks in front of us sending a wink Erica's way.

I needed my usual confidence booster who was in fact, Ace. Obviously, tonight, I didn't receive anything. When Tyson asked him how he thought I looked he had said, 'She already knows how I think she looks.', without even looking at me. I didn't know how to take it so I just ignored him back, although I saw my brother look confused looking back and forth between us.

I pushed a strand of my recently waved hair away from my face as I scanned the club. As anyone could probably figure out, clubbing was not my scene. I was a 'lay in bed and read' type of girl.

Boring, I know.

I saw Erica point across the club and I followed her gaze which was on Tyson beckoning us over to the VIP area. Before she could pick up the tray of drinks, the bartender, whose badge read 'Dre', had come around the bar and carried out the action for her. A slight blush rose on her cheeks as she pointed in the same direction as before. Dre was quite a handsome guy with his olive skin and seductive eyes. Maybe they both would be blushing with each other by the end of the night.

"How much are the drinks?" Tyson spat out towards Dre. Even a sightless man could see my brother starting to get agitated. Standing up straight, Dre smirked in his direction taking a quick look at who he was up against.

"Nothing. Beautiful girls get drinks on the house tonight." Dre replied, looking down at Erica as she tried her best to look everywhere apart from him. Dre slid her a piece of paper before he walked back over to his assigned post.

"That punk thought he was slick. Lying to get in the panties." Tyson downed his shot.

"So, because he called me beautiful, he's lying? Is that what you're saying Tyson?" Erica broke the awkward silence that had enveloped around us although the music waves still speared through the air.

"Don't you lie to 'get in the panties'?" Erica used air quotation marks for added emphasis. My eyes widened significantly and I could see Rashad trying to keep in his laughter.

"If you call me Daddy, you know you gettin' in the panties! So, Daddy, Daddy ..." We all looked over at Rashad who was impersonating Tamar Braxton.
