THIRTEEN:
"Where are we going?" I asked Jason as we walked away from the park. After he kissed me, I sort of ditched Beth and Tonya. They probably understood that I wanted to spend more time with Jason since we've been apart for a while.
"I guess my house since we're almost there, and it's getting dark."
We walked up to his large house, which I haven't been to in months. I wondered what his parents would say when they saw me. Jason ushered me inside and walked straight to the kitchen.
"Want anything to drink?" he asked, smiling. It seemed like he couldn't stop smiling. Weird. I shook my head and he went to the refrigerator to grab a water bottle.
"Hello darling. Ah, it's nice to see you again Seraphina," his mom, Carol, said when she walked into the kitchen.
"You too. It's been a while, I'm surprised you still remember me," I joked.
She chuckled, "Well, not when your son keeps talking about you," she laughed, while Jason turned a little pink, which was cute. "I guess you two are back together?"
"Back together?" I asked.
"You know, dating? Boyfriend and girlfriend? Please tell me you kids still call it 'dating' these days," Carol said.
I laughed a little, "Oh, yeah, we still call it that. Jason and I weren't dating before though, but now we are," I said smoothly. Carol always made me feel comfortable, so I didn't have any trouble telling her we were dating.
"Jason! Why didn't you tell me?" she exclaimed, slapping his arm lightly.
He rolled his eyes, "Mom, it kind of just happened. And by just happened I mean today."
"Well I'm not that surprised anyway, I knew you two would end up together sooner or later. Would you like to stay for dinner Sera?" Carol asked me. I thought if my parents would care, and remembered that they were both working late again.
"I'd love to," I smiled.
"Great, it'll be ready in about half an hour."
Jason nodded, "C'mon, we can wait upstairs." He gently took my wrist and led the way to the second room on the right once we were up the stairs. I've never actually been in his room; I always stayed in his living room and kitchen when I was at his house. The walls were a dark green, visible in between various posters of bands. I knew most of them, but there were a few I didn't recognize.
"Innerpartysystem?" I read.
"It's an electronic sort of band. You've never heard of them?" he said, sitting on his leather couch. His room was pretty big for his size house.
"Nope," I shrugged and sat next to him.
"Here." He handed me the earphones to his iPod that was on the table next to him. He played a song, which I guess was by them. It actually sounded cool. I never really listened to that kind of music before.
"I like it," I said. He smiled even wider. I didn't think that was possible.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"You've been smiling for a very long time now. I think your cheeks are going to fall off."
He looked a little confused, and his smile started to fade away.
I laughed, "No, it's okay! You have an amazing smile."
He blushed a little, "Thanks. You know what's amazing about you?"
"No..."
"Everything."
