Izel

I sat up in my bed that night, watching boondocks live on youtube and eating Travis's hot chips.

Payback for eating my candy.

There was a knock on my door and I knew it was August.

"Why you got it so dark in hea'?" He asked with a frown.

"Because I like the dark." I scoot over so he could sit next to me.

"You ain't tell me why you was uncomfortable at dis party."

"Oh -- Well, Celeste had left me alone to go with her friends and I already had felt out of place, so I didn't bother following her, Instead I followed Marquez, which was not the best idea but I was nervous. His friends were staring at me and kept smiling at me while talking to each other -- then before I called you, his friend Chris had showed me to the bathroom, and I told him my stomach was hurting -- He gave me this white pill--"

"You ain't take it did you?" he frowned

"I'm not stupid." I giggled. "I pretended I took it, then after that I was in your arms again." I smiled.

"As long as you aight. That's all dat matters."

"And I won't be going to another party." I giggled.

We stayed quiet while watching boondocks, and soon I heard light snores. I looked down at Aug and saw he fell asleep.

I smiled and moved from up under him and put a pillow under his head.

I put the covers over him and got comfortable next to him. Before going to sleep myself, I gave him a kiss on the cheek.

The next morning I woke up and saw August wasn't next to me anymore. He usually does that when he falls asleep in my room. He'd wake up and go to his room to go to sleep because he knows I make a lot of noise when I wake up.

I took a shower and got dressed into something comfortable then brushed my teeth and pulled my hair up into a messy bun.

I walked downstairs and saw Mama Sheila in the living room and Travis was in the kitchen.

"Wassup young one." Travis said as I grabbed a bowl.

"Whas de scene?" I spoke with my thick accent.

Travis stopped what he was doing and stared at me.

"The hell did you just say?" He frowned.

"I said wassup." I giggled. "You can't handle the Trini talk?"

"Nah, say some else."

"You're a badjohn." I smiled.

"What's a badjohn?"

"A bully, or someone who thinks they're bad." I laughed.

"I hate bilingual people because y'all some sneak dissers." He shook his head.

August came downstairs and he looked so fine. He had on his sweats and no shirt and I swear I could see myself on top of him right now.

"Mornin'." He gave me a kiss.

"Good morning." I smiled.

"Good morning" Travis mimicked me. "Ya girl was cussin' me out in spanish, or whatever the hell she was speaking."

"It's just trini slang." I laughed.

"Oh you can speak anotha' language?" August rose his brows while biting into a piece of bacon.

"Yea -- Can we go to the botanical garden?" I asked while looking up at August,

"What's a botanical garden?" He frowned.

"It's a garden, it's really quiet there and also a great place to take pictures."

"We can go den'. Pick a time."

"After breakfast?" I asked hopefully.

"Yes ma'am." He smiled and walked in the living room.

I looked at his back and it looked better than it did yesterday.

"Travis? What happened to Augs back?" I asked in a whisper tone.

"If he hasn't told you, then I ain't telling you." He was about to walk away but I blocked him.

"Did he get into a fight?"

Travis stood there and kept eating his cereal like I didn't just ask him a question.

"Fine, don't tell me."

He laughed and walked away.

"I sure won't tell ya'."

I shook my head and sat back down. I really wanted to know and neither one of them would tell me.
