4 months later...
Betty
"Beau," I sing, kissing his tummy, nappy in one hand and wipes in the other. "Are you going to let Aunty Betty change your dirty bot-bot ?"
Beau stares up at me, his humongous sky blue eyes watching my every move, chubby legs trying to kick back when I hold them steady. I can't believe it's four months since he made his entrance into the world. Stealing all our hearts.
I open his wet nappy and lift his bottom, putting it to the side before wiping him and securing him into a fresh one. I lift his foot up to my mouth and kiss his toes, pretending they're smelly which pulls an expression that I'm sure is supposed to be a smile.
"Knock, knock," Finn's says, coming into the bedroom upstairs at my parent's house.
I smile, tipping my head back so he can plant a kiss on my lips. Going back to telling Beau how he has smelly feet. "Go on, take a whiff, Uncle Finn."
Yeah, that's how he's known now. Uncle Finn, who gives the best horsey back rides and tickle tummies.
I couldn't be any more in love.
Beau's eyes widen when Finn comes into view, his body shuffling around impatiently. Out the way, Aunty Betty, he all but says.
"Peeewww!" Finn shouts, pretending to nibble on Beau's feet.
Beau blinks, pulling a full-blown smile, tongue almost sticking out as he reaches up for the necklace dangling around my neck.
Textures are his new obsession, along with shoving things into his mouth, which is worrying Edward silly.
I giggle. "He's obsessed with you."
Finn ties up the nappy in a small plastic bag and drops it in the bin. "I think I have one of those faces. Babies always seem to like me."
I slide on his baby blue, soft, extra thick sweat pants, tugging down the matching woolly jumper, and pick him up.
"Do you think he'll keep his dark hair?"
I glance down at Beau's head, seeing the thick patches of almost black hair, his eyebrows coming in slightly lighter. "I think he'll take after Delilah in the hair department."
"Wait a sec," Finn says when I head for the bedroom door. "Yeah, still looks incredible."
I frown. "I'm sorry, what?"
Finn gazes down at my hands, signalling to the sweet little diamond on my finger. "My ring."
"Oh," I giggle, bending down to see the Tiffany diamond matching my baby pink nail polish.
Finn proposed while we were skiing in Avoriaz, France. It couldn't be any more perfect when he set up a cosy area near the coal fire at our family cabin, loving on me hard like he always does, pulling out an engagement ring when we're both all gooey from love lust.
I said yes before he even got the chance to ask, gushing over the ring I'd shown him the previous week, not knowing he'd buy it for me. We both cried then, overwhelmed with happiness, excited for the future.
Beau snuggles down into my neck, making a few go-go noises. I glance at his still bare hand. "I can't wait for a ring to be on your finger too."
"Soon," he grins, stepping in closer, "and then, you'll be Mrs Moretti."
"No longer a Larsson," I reply, noting the sadness that pulls at my heart strings.
Finn smiles. "You'll always be a Larsson. Just with a different name."
